OMG u lot have worried me as well now lol

We're moving to paphos next may. We've had a villa built which is all paid for and taking some savings. my hubby is hoping to set up his own business eventually doing house alarms.... paphos maybe a safe place to live but with all the brits going over there u can bet the crime will follow soon lol

I'm getting really excited about the move now, but by the sound of the doom and gloom i'm surprised you are all still living there

I think you'll be alright if ur renting and have savings as well. But like they say....... you can always come back if it doesn't work out.

i think we are gonna go for it - my daughter (27) has no illusions over it she has worked abroad and when kids were younger we all lived in italy( didnt work as i split from italian partner) but loved it apart from coming home!!
think limassol seems a better bet from looking at various forums etc x

Not so sure where you'r coming from regarding "crime will follow" can you please enlighten me as I have visited Paphos and hope to retire there next year.

I must admit Rulla I don't blame you thinking this way if this really is going to happen. However I don't think it will as there is no social security to attract this kind of person. I also hope Cyprus stays as it is.

Rulla,

Just as well Donna and her husband are moving to Paphos and not the east side of the island then!

And, your comments are just one of the reasons why most people decide to rent property rather than buy straight away these days. At least it gives them the opportunity to suss out their "friendly" neighbours!

What attracted most of us ex-pats to Cyprus initially was the friendly Cypriot people we used to meet when we came on holiday :?

Luckily for us, we live in a nice area with friendly Cypriot neighbours all around us! Personally, we didn't want to end up in an ex-pat filled location and so stayed clear of some of the more popular locations.

As for alarms - we don't need them as we have 2 large dogs, who incidentally are very friendly, but not everyone knows that
