GREECE-TURKEY LEAVE CYPRUS ALONE

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby SN » Sun Jul 08, 2007 12:33 am
.

You repeatedly ramble about the "Macedonian cause". The FYROM has a history of dissipating propaganda regarding the ancient Greek Macedonians, claiming ownership of ancient Greek history and culture, including in their original Constitution irredentist objectives against the modern day Greek state, and generally acting as an annoyance to Greece. Now, whether the FYROM has the power to see through these underlying aims is irrelevant, Greece simply cannot allow a state to behave in such a way on its border. What do you believe is the purpose of the FYROM naming their main airport after Alexander the Great? One state cannot be allowed to usurp the history of another. To bring this matter to a conclusion, Greece is willing to negotiate this issue and has shown flexibility, however the FYROM refuses. Greece has further shown its reasonableness in this dispute by improving its relations with the FYROM and becoming its largest foreign investor. Conversely, if many in Greek Macedonia believes in the propaganda of the FYROM in the same way you do, then Greece could have every reason to worry about recognising them under their "constitutional name".

Also let me add something i forgot about what you said on Macedonia.

As i said,i come from Serres, logically one (probably Greek, with this retard mentality of theirs) expect that i would say Macedonia is Greek and commit a harakiri to please my compatriots.

What i am arguing here is that Greece should not consider Macedonia's perceived usurpation of Greek history as threat to our sovereign rights.Mainly Greece is quite homogenous(apart the immigrants who most of them have no voting power in Greece) and Macedonian minority is very small( i d guess up to 30.000-50.000 max). The voters of the Rainbow party in Greece(pro ethnic Macedonian party) are only down to 6.000 people. Some others Slavophones might not even wanna vote the party since the party specially in Florina has been attacked numerous times by fanatic Xrisi Augi followers.

The renaming of the Airport is a polical card Macedonia plays since it is already winning the name battle. It further consolidates its win and helps the future of their existance in being true ethnic Macedonians.
It is well known that Macedonia sooner or later will be federalized since the Albanians make up 25% of their population.

The issue is not historical, that is what biggot people like Psomiadis say and the ''day dreamers'' that believe that everything macedonian is Greek. The issue is political.
The Macedonians have a rather recent ethnogenesis.Their survival depends on what their name is.We the Greeks have an undisputed name for ourselves,i dont see why Greece cant behave like a true mature country and allow the name Macedonia to be used for the Macedonians.

This country does not constitute a threat to Greece.Thessaloniki alone has the population of the whole of their nation.
Greece from day one should have not opposed their name THUS acting like a factor of further stability. This country is now struggling for its existance...Greece must show the right level of maturity end this stupid name dispute.
I dont see how a country can be considered a mature and progressive EU democracy while in the past it has forced another smaller nation to change both its constitution(btw in their constitution there was nothing against Greece, only what Greece perceived as threat)and flag(utter stupidity from Greece's part)...That is beyond my comprehension...

hahahahahahahaha !

Before or after Turkish 'brave' army leaves the island ??!!

Get real. This is the main problem of the island. Turks will never leave the country but if they make Greeks sail themselves to Turks.

Simon wrote:No it doesn't require an answer from you, because it is clear you don't have any! What you have said covers nothing. It's just your ramblings about your personal views that are backed up by no facts.

I have not twisted any of your words; merely quoted and exposed them. I have proved that Greece cares, it is not my problem if you choose to ignore blatant facts.

You want Greece to desert Cyprus, I know, you have said many times. If this is not cowardice and selfishness I do not know what is. You have explained your reasons which I have repeatedly discredited. However, you seem to really struggle to come to terms with this, instead, choosing to say "I've already given my reasons for this and that." Quite frankly, your reasons cannot stand up to even the most basic of scrutiny, as I have shown. You agree with one GC, Wow, that must mean you're right.

Now you've sold Cyprus out, stop getting involved!!!  This is shocking. What is more shocking is that you are serious. Another display of cowardice and selfishness. I am afraid it is not as simple as that. Like I have said, Greece is inextricably involved, and will be until a conclusion is reached. If anything else, it is the least Greece owes GCs.

If Greece and Turkey stopped involvement, we would have a solution, as it would require 40,000 Turkish troops to leave. However, while Turkey fervently supports TCs with their huge military, I would consider it absolutely unforgivable for Greece to desert GCs now. Especially considering she helped bring all those Turkish troops to our beloved Cyprus in the first place.

Ok believe what you may....I cant help you see beyond Greece and your Greekness...

Greece cannot simply allow another country to usurp the name 'Macedonia.' This monopolising of the name if anything violates the human rights of Greek Macedonians, and will only create confusion. Why don't the Slavo-Macedonians simply agree to an amendment in the name, so there is not an implied, exclusive claim of the name. The Greek Foreign Ministry says it best:

"The choice of the name Macedonia by FYROM directly raises the issue of usurpation of the cultural heritage of a neighbouring country. The name constitutes the basis for staking an exclusive rights claim over the entire geographical area of Macedonia. More specifically, to call only the Slavo-Macedonians Macedonians monopolizes the name for the Slavo-Macedonians and creates semiological confusion, whilst violating the human rights and the right to self-determination of Greek Macedonians. The use of the name by FYROM alone may also create problems in the trade area, and subsequently become a potential springboard for distorting reality, and a basis for activities far removed from the standards set by the European Union and more specifically the clause on good neighbourly relations. The best example of this is to be seen in the content of school textbooks in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia."

Indeed the majority of Greeks agree with me. I actually remember seeing the mass rallies in Thessaloniki against FYROM's policies.

The Airport is just but one example of the Slavo-Macedonians trying to exaserbate relations with Greece. However, Greece has so far maintained a mature stance. You seem so quick to proclaim their victory, but they have won nothing! This country is desperate to enter the EU, and will not do so until the name dispute is resolved. Furthermore, the UN has said all its members will accept the outcome of the dispute. Therefore, nothing is settled. Greece is extremely important to the FYROM, and therefore, it would be well advised to actively seek a solution. Merely re-naming one of their Airports to annoy Greece consolidates nothing. You really do make me laugh

You ask why don't Greece allow FYROM to have the name 'Macedonia', I ask, why do you so fervently support their cause? I further ask, why do you seem to support all causes that go against your own country's interests? Is there anything you support your country in? I shall ask you further, why should Greece allow them to monopolise the name 'Macedonia'? Many Greeks would feel betrayed by this. Costas Karamanlis himself stated "I am a Macedonian. And so are 2.5 million other Greeks".

Furthermore, Thessaloniki does not have the population of the whole of the FYROM. Not sure where you got that from. Another factual error.

Wikipedia:
The concerns are further reinforced by the fact that extremist ethnic Macedonian nationalists of the "United Macedonia" movement have expressed irredentist claims to what they refer to as "Aegean Macedonia" (in Greece),[55][56][57].

Schoolbooks and official government publications in the Republic have shown the country as part of an unliberated whole.[61][62][63][64][65][66][67]
It is all relevantly sourced if you wish to check it out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macedonia_naming_dispute

There is also a further point of them calling their language 'Macedonian'. Just how is their language Macedonian? Does this mean that the language of the Greek Macedonians is not Macedonian? Again, clear usurpation of the name.

References in their Constitution and Flag were clearly implying ambitions towards Greek Macedonia. Consider the White Tower and various other symbols they used for such propaganda purposes. To think that Greece would not react to such provocations is just plain stupid.

And I evidently can't help you see beyond your blind distortion of reality. Keep believing Greece is wrong in everything it does. In the meantime, if you dislike the country that much, it might serve your interests to just leave and never return. You never know, one day you may get your clear underlying wish and see the Hellenic Republic broken up before your very eyes. Maybe she will finally capitulate to all her enemies; which may happen sooner than anticipated if there are many more like you there.

Clearly to you, facts are not to be taken seriously; just your ridiculous patter about how Greece is the single most destabilising force in the Balkans, is.

Thanks for the info.Let me be a bastard as usual.I told you i come from Serres do you think i havent checked doubled checked and tripled checked what Greece and Macedonia are claiming? My god my whole life i have been hearing ''Macedonia is Greek'',bash the skopjians etc...That is so bullshit.

Historically i agree that probably the ancient Macedonians were a backward Greek tribe. So what? Will history dictate on how Greece should act.Does that even have any logic in our modern world.I dont know Simon,i am probably of a different stock of Greeks.I dont care about bullshit claims regarding merely a name.

For you info Thessaloniki is what?1 million with the suburbs right,if not more? The Macedonians are 1,2m in Macedonia. The rest are ethnic Albanians. So how do they constitute a threat towards Greece?

I am Greek Macedonian (as the Greek would claim) and i am not offended if they use the name Macedonia.I know many ''Greek Macedonians'' who dont even give a shit about what actually happens

About the riots in Thessaloniki. So what?I was also one of them when i was little.I remember my parents dyed my forehead with the Vergina Star and i was like ''bash the skopjians'' etc.Does that mean absolutely anything? It was 92,everyone in Greece believed that USA was plotting to create a united Macedonia(Aegean Macedonia,Vardar Macedonia and Pirin Macedonia) as you mention in Greece's expense.I grew up since. Now it is 2007 things changed.2/3 of the UN have recognized Macedonia under its constitutional name.
Greece has already lost this silly dispute. We must now ''save face''.

Besides if you look at it completly detached from whatever wet dream you have about Hellenism,it is also a matter of human rights.Self-identity and how one chooses to describe his ethnic origins is a fundamental human right. While we do have a solid undisputable name, the Macedonians fight for something that is a fundamental human right. While Karamanlis said he is Macedonian and so are the rest 2,7m Greeks,he got humiliated by Milososki,Gruevski and the whole Macedonian leadership.Do you even remember their answer? They said something along the lines ''while we respect that the PM of Greece feels Macedonian,we expect him to show the same level of respect to our nation as well.We welcome anyone who feels Macedonian in our country''.....

Besides Macedonia has officially denied the monopoly of the Macedonian name.Regarding the name of the airport as i said it is merely a political card.At least that is what most Macedonians claim. They said that they merely want to honour a military personality that has been honoured by many countries. So what?In India and Pakistan they also have an airport named Alexander the Great.Did Greece impose any sanctions against India and Pakistan as well?

You have to see that internationally more and more people consider the TC and the Macedonians as the victims of GC attrocities and Greece's policies retrospectively.

About the banknote i have already answered. In the same page you are quoting(if i remember correctly) there is link that says the banknote was never released in Macedonia.Any way you can check it.This banknote never went to circulation.I know by heart what both the Greek and Macedonians nationalists claim.I grew up with this bullshit.

Why is it so important to answer in what issues i support Greece?I find myself a person, which questions the attitude of its own people, since it is obvious that my people have been bluntantly wrong in many issues.

Cyprus is one of Greece's major victims. And i strongly abide by it.

SN, The funniest thing of all is that you claim to speak for the whole of Greece because you have a few friends   Who the f*ck cares whether you take particular offence with regards to the usurpation of the name? The fact is, Greece does. Unless I am missing something, have there been any rallies in Thessaloniki where thousands of Greeks are demanding, "Give the Slavs the name Macedonia"?!!

Where have you heard me say bash the Skopjians? Where has that come from? Putting words into my mouth to support your baseless arguments? You do not address any of my specific arguments, but instead babble on about something you were told as a child.

You repeatedly got back to history, but this is not just about history. It is about the FYROM monopolising the name and denying Macedonian Greeks their own rights of self-determination. You might not care, but many do. Again, this is the type of selfish response I expect from you.

Yet again, you change your statement to try to show accuracy. Firstly, you state that Thessaloniki has the same population as the entire country (FYROM), however, when I point this out as incorrect, you then refer to the 1.2 million "ethnic Macedonians". It is still not as large. However, whether the FYROM pose a real threat is rather irrelevant, it is their intentions that Greece must address, for a trustworthy relationship with mutual respect.

About the Thessaloniki protests, whether in 1992 or not, what it shows is that the Greek population is behind the government in this dispute. This was my point and it is clear no matter how much you try to downplay it. You say 2/3 of UN have recognised FYROM under its constitutional name, and that Greece has already lost the dispute; when I have already covered both points in my previous post. The UN still refers to the state as the FYROM, and its members have declared it will accept any final solution. The point is, that the FYROM want desperately to join the EU, and therefore must reach an agreement with Greece; until Greece is satisfied, nothing is won or lost.

You mention human rights, which is correct. This is why Greece cannot allow the FYROM to usurp the name for their exclusive use. The human rights of Greek Macedonians must also be considered.

You talk about the Airport, and if I did not know any better I would believe you were the spokesman for the FYROM! Officially deny the monopoly of the name? They are clearly attempting to monopolise the name and claim ancient Greek history as their own! You so easily believe the propaganda of others! It is plainly clear what their intention was with the Airport, just as it is clear what their intention was when releasing maps with a barbed war as the border with Greece, or when they used the White Tower and Vergina Star as there propaganda, or when they clearly permeate their textbooks with irredentist material.....Please give me a break, FYROM Spokesman. Let me ask you, merely a political card for what? What is the intention? India nor Pakistan are not claiming the history of Macedonia as part of their heritage are they? And usurping the name and heros as their own? Quite a big difference don't you think?
You have to see that internationally more and more people consider the TC and the Macedonians as the victims of GC attrocities and Greece's policies retrospectively.
No, I think that's just another one of your wet dreams.

Whether the bank-note were released or not is irrelevant. The fact is, they were printed and intended to be released. Only pressure by Greece and internationally would have prevented it. However, the intention was there. Why print it?

Because, you oppose your country is every legitimate national cause it seems. Attention-seeking is one obvious explanation. Personal crusade is another. I am all for objective criticism, but as I have said before, you are something else, and one can only question your motives.

About Thessaloniki i compared it to the Macedonian nation which obviously poses no threat to Greece.Thessaloniki's population with the suburbs equals the number of ethnic Macedonians living in Macedonia,if not exceeds the population of ethnic Macedonians. That what i said.If you want to play with every word i say,i am bored,do it with a retard, not me.

Bilaterally Macedonia with every country that recognizes it is referred to as Macedonia.Only bsc of Greece's bullshit UN still refers to it as such.

Off course officially Macedonia says it does not want monopoly over the name.Find me one quote that the official Macedonian government says it wants the monopoly.Thats is merely your bullshit talk and arbitrary claim that Macedonia has ever explicity demanded monopoly over the name.

Stick to the Cyprus issue as you apparently have nothing to do with Greece.People dont give a shit what the actuall out come will be.

The rest we have covered it,you go rounds and it is boring.Play with a toy or something. Not with words.
