It was his own fault? Yes, I constantly have arguments with the waiter about the price of my meal..... Rubbish. Not everyone likes to barter about every single little thing in the middle of a restaurant.

Cheers

What a load of garbage you write Mr. harte. the turkish people are kind hospitable if you got ripped off its your own fault, but maybe thats not the full story.

Well Hippo where did i say the Turkish were not kind and hospitable??

My point was to bring Turkish currency with you, had i have had turkish money with me i would have not got an exchange rate of 1lr to the cy pound.
Not a very friendly start for a new member i think.

tony harte, there are so many 'Bureau de change' outlets in the area you visited, I wonder why you did not take the time to convert your currency, the rate is about 3 to 1 and easy to calculate.

If you presented the Cyprus pound further inland, you would probably find it to be unacceptable, (personal experience), I am greatly surprised that you found such difficulty in the area you visited since the inhabitants in that region are well versed in accepting various currencies, I really cannot understand how you came to be in such a situation since I have always found the local shop-keepers to be extremely honest.

Better luck next visit mate, lay off the 'Effes' perhaps ?........................

Hi Eliko

We only went across for a few hours and friends had tod me its not worth cashing up small amounts as most close to the border take CY Pounds.

With the benefit if heinsight i wish i had taken Turkish Currency or drawn cash for a cash machine.

O well your never to old to learn from your mistakes

tony harte, next time you go to Famagusta/Gazimagusa, go to the beach bar and enjoy a few 'Efes' lagers, you will be on a lovely beach, have a great view of the devastation of the entire coastal region and be in no danger of any 'Rip Offs', happy days.........................
