Just got back from the lunch meeting at Flo Cafe Nicosia.
I had previously arranged by PM/phone with Halil to meet at the checkpoint so that we can drive over in one vehicle..
When i arrived at the checkpoint Halil was already waiting for me..Previously i was worried as to how i would find him because we had not met before,but it wasn't hard to spot him with his mobile calling me just as i pulled into the checkpoint..
The drive to the public car park near Ledra Street only took us ten minutes so we arrived at Flo Cafe ten minutes before the arranged time..
Walked into the cafe looking lost ordered two frappes and started chatting,at the same time watching the entrance..
Ten minutes later DT walked in looking lost just like us,so i made the first move asking if he was there to meet anyone..ordered a frappe for him also and we moved on to a table..then Get Real & T_C walked in followed by bananiot..
We had a nice lunch and few beers next thing i noticed three hours had passed...
We did talk politics,exchanged views on wide spectrum of subjects but all was in a very friendly atmosphere..we had a good laugh..
Ok,at the end of it,we did not solve the Cyprus problem but that was not our mission anyway..

When i look back now,i can only say i met four great guys today..
I dont care what their political views are they all have my respect as good Cypriots..

we agreed to arrange a souvla party on the mountains sometime in the near future so i recommend other members to join us next time.

Indeed it was a great day.

Me and GR got there LONG before we found the rest of the 'crew' though. Iceman had his back to us so he didnt see but me and GR sat there for a good half hour looking at EVERYONE but the forum members sitting right near us .

GR even approached 2 people thinking it might be them and just before we were going to order and start without the rest GR said ''it could be them over there''....so we got our glasses and moved to the bar to 'eavesdrop' (:lol:) and it turned out it really was them.

From there on we introduced ourselves, ordered a few drinks, ate some nice food, talked....talked....and talked some more.

Bananiot was the first to leave, then Iceman and Halil...me, GR and DT then went on to a nice Irish pub where we drank some more.

I only got back about an hour ago, had a really nice day and got to know some really cool people!

Would definately do it again and next time it would be good to have even more members join in. We're not going to solve the Cyprus problem over a drink nor are we going to end up fighting or killing eachother because everyone was genuinely interested in the others opinions and views no matter how much they differed from their own.

hello to all as well .Great day guys. No knives no grenades just a good bunch of guys with an urge to learn more from each other.

Next time we gotta bring something to distract Halil so we can get a word in.

For starters I want to thank the people who came (Iceman, T_C, DT, Bananiot, Halil) for being there and making this get-together possible.

One can disagree with others on political issues yet agree on the finer things in life such as talking, laughing, eating, drinking and generally socializing, so it’s good for us to differentiate that while we have our differences over certain issues we are however all the same as human beings in pretty much everything else.

We should do this more often, not necessarily because Cyprus has a problem but because it was very enjoyable and we as human beings need this kind of medicine; I look forward to the Souvla meeting at higher altitudes soon.

Finally, I’m glad I chose the Flo café for this meeting because not only was the atmosphere just right but the waitress looked after us pretty good so we could just get on with our talking... or was that Halill doing all the talking?
