Excellent videos TC! I especially love watching the female’s karsilamades. They remind me so much of my grandmother when she dances, so much grace...
This one has to be my favourite..
Beautiful! It’s a shame it's not the whole thing..
I like how in these videos, and the others you posted they've kept it more traditional with pairs dancing, as appose to a large group all dancing together and how they haven't over choreographed, after all one of the most special things about Cypriot dances (in my humble opinion) is that it's mostly all about improvising...
Anyway I’ve been reading a few of the conversations on this thread and speaking of influencing I was browsing youtube the other day and I came across a series of videos someone had posted on shared or similar Greek and Turkish music. There are loads so I’ll do part one now and part two at a later date…(If anyone's interested that is.. )
Part one
Taken from a description of the video..
....I present two Ottoman Greeks, composers of both secular Ottoman classical and court music and neo-Byzantine chant. A parrallel flowering of both Ottoman art music and Orthodox ecclesiastical music from the mid 17th through the 18th centuries and beyond.
Cadirimin Ustune/Rampi Rampi/Tin Fotia pou exies anapsi
Tourna/Turna
Katifes/Kadifeden Kesesi (Bahriye)
Konyali/ Konialis
(Sound familiar ? )
Aptaliko / Aptal Havasi / Kordon Zeybek
zeibekiko/ zeybek (shared dance and music)
(I wasn't over exaggerating when I said there were loads... )
I think that it’s really interesting to listen to the recordings where the Greek singers are singing in Turkish. I Know that many of the Greeks of Asia minor/Anatolia were bilingual and spoke both Greek and Turkish, and that some had Turkish as their first language, and those particular recordings certainly show that...

Hey T_C, that would be Salfos. Good post nevertheless.
Thanks Filitsa, have to say that the mistake wasn't mine though. I got the information through whoever uploaded it as thats what it's listed as on youtube. Noticed the guy is from Greece hence the mistake probably...
I'd seen a few of them before but there are some in there I hadn't seen which will be going straight into my favorites, thanks for putting them all up and post more if you find them please.
Heres another Cypriot dance I've found on youtube...
PS: I'm glad you like the karsilama videos, thought you would actually. I most certainly do too, which is why I'm hosting them on youtube.

Keep them coming TC. It is one thing that brings some peace to the Cyprus forum, apart from Oracles occasional rantings. Oracle cant see anyone enjoying themselves.
