bigOz wrote:"Laz" is not an insult. They are believed to be an ethnic group that existed somewhere between Greece, Georgia, Nothern Anatolia and Armenia, but more towards Georgia. If I remeber correctly they were also known as "Colchis" (hence probably the source of the surname Kolchak in Turkey!

People living along the Northern Black Sea coast of Turkey had always been addressed as Laz by the general public, but the name became diluted when a lot of jokes were made referring to the occupants of that area as "Laz", that always portrayed them as "naive" or of little intelligence. But that is not something people believe in! It is only for jokes like the Irish jokes in UK. No one in real life really believes Irish are stupid, do they? My own experience has been, people referred to as Laz, or more appropriately as "Karadenizli" are very much loved and respected by the Turkish society in Turkey, and are never looked upon as a lower form of life in their midst!

Although TC did well to apologise, in my opinion he did nothing wrong and in fact, if anyone , it should be "talipozdemir" who should apologise for misinterpreting what was written and starting the first salvo of insults on someone who was genuinely welcoming him. That's my opinion anyway! :D

Thanks for clearing that up mate. Exactly what I thought too.

Laz people are in Wikipedia as 'Laz people', their language is also called 'Lazuri' so you can imagine I didnt even think twice about calling him Laz.

Pyrpolizer wrote:Hey talipozdemir,

you started a rather philosophical subject my T_C compatriot said hello to you and you cursed his mother (just because he called you Laz when he himself is also a Laz.)
Listen my friend we in Cyprus are not like that we don't insult for no reason and we don't mess mothers and sisters in the insults just like that.

And then you wonder why the TCs don't like you and call you karasakalis and "i am an idiot"

NB. But Erdogan who you like is Laz too, no?

Listen. This topic opened by me. And I want to discuss on this topic. Not anything else. When people talk about something else & say hello like this, the topic will be changed with waste talks as you do now. This is why I said him ''Laz one is your mother.''
Is being a ''Laz'' is something bad? No of course. Than it is not a swearing. And you say me
said hello to you and you cursed his mother
I didn't cursed on him with telling so to her mother.
If you still insist on me about being quilty, It's OK. If i did a mistake, you are not have to do same mistake back.

I didn't say I like politics & politicians.Don't say made-up stories from back of your head.I don't seperate people with their hometowns.Everyone Turkish citizens of me in the frontiers of Turkey. Thanks for hardening me.Of course, It musn't be so easy to get understanding with people who are watching, listening & reading provacative news from TVs, radios & newspapers.Thanks.

I can explain something to people hunderds times. But if they do not harden their brain to understand me, If they do not look at the truths objectively, if they will not look at the topic positively to find a solution, they will never understand me.YOU ALL KNOW THIS.

OK mate, just to get things cleared up. I just spoke with my aunt who told me Laz can mean 'stupid/dumb' so I suppose you deserve an apology. That is NOT what I meant though! People in Cyprus always call me Laz because my dad is from Kastamonu and I have even more family where you're from, Trabzon (Çarşıbaşı).

Sorry for what I said about your mother too, I just freaked out coz I was only saying hello and was happy to see someone from Trabzon but ended up having my own mother mentioned which really pissed me off, when I get defensive there is just no stopping me and I react in a way I later regret (and I do).

Özür Dilerim!

Ben de ozur dilerim.Bagi$la.Ben de seni beni a$agilamak icin Laz dedin zannettim.Ona gore fazla olmasa da biraz kizdim.Kusura bakma lutfen.Hakkini helal et olur mu. Ben de Car$iba$i'na yakin bir yerdenim. Agasar ya da $imdiki adiyla $alpazari'ndanim. Ailene sor onlar soylerler Agasar neresi.Ailene de selamlarimi soyle olurmu.
(Sorry this is just an apologize in Turkish. If you need me to translate it, just send me a PM and I will translate t for you dear Cyprus-Forum members, ladies & gentlemen.. ) Thanks.

You all see this impolite guy.I think the Admin must punish the members who are both using bad words, swears and puting Cyprus flag to their display.I don't want even Turkish people to be bad example with fighting other people while something symbolizing their nationality on them.

Mr. DT., you do not have a right to bad example to my other Cypriot brothers with your bad words. You are blacken their peaceful efforts with your this kind of behaviour. Thanks.

Talk about Kemalist evolution baby!

You know there are some other famous people in the Turkish history like Suleiman The Magnificent, Mehmed The Conqueror, Bayezit The Thunderboilt like Mustafa Kemal.
I didnt hear something like ''SULEIMANISM, MEHMEISM, BAYEZITISM or sth like that about them. So I don't thank that I'm talking about Kemalism.

Plz, Stop Judging me.Plz stop Judging Subjects. I don't say to to 'shut up'.Of course you have a right to tell you opinion. But not with judging me. Judge only the topic

If you are not blind you can see that, the topic here is
We can't solve it if we name it as 'Cyprus Problem'

If you have something to me, you can say it with a PM.
Or you can discuss with me on it from msn: [email protected]
But If you have some other bad purposes, you can continue to advertise your bad purposes & try to provake me with your waste talks & judges on me, you can continue.
I'm not the manager of this website.I do not have a right to punish you.And if the Admin is not an objective one like me, he can delete my posts after reading them.I wish that he is not so.Thanks.
