Gis a job!!!!

Postby Willow » Tue Jun 26, 2007 2:46 pm

Hey up Cyprus Forum peeps. Willow here severly suffering after a long weekend in Newquay. 10 hours in a car trying to get back to York through monsoon weather has only convinced me more to return to my beloved Cyprus. I've worked away before (in India of all places.....during the monsoon of 2005! It just follows me!!). If anyone has information on jobs ( particularly in Paphos) please let me know. JB Bear mentioned the possibility of a company in Limmasol and I've got a CV ready to send off but I havent been able to get in contact. At this moment in time my central nervous system feels like Ozzy Osborne's and the weather in country is soaking my very soul.....please guide me to the light like Carol Ann in Poltergiest......

Hahahahahahahahaha!

I watched it last night – completely biased reporting – the ‘relocation girl’ didn’t even come to Cyprus. No mention of cost of living, crime, weather… If you feel the UK is better and crime worse here feel free to stay there.

Can’t wait to see the follow-up programme tho!

Ha! Crime worse here? Don't think so. I was never burgled in the UK either, but knew plenty of people who had been or had their car nicked. And for the last 12 years I lived next to Ascot. Hardly a centre of crime, but still I knew plenty of people who had been robbed either from their home, person, or car. Alarm (that linked to the phone system) went in straight away as soon as I moved in after a friend moved at the same time and was robbed within a week. Nice.

Then we got took over by a company in Slough (very very similar to "the Office"). One of the first emails we got from our new employers was how even with 24 hour guards and cameras in the car park we should not hang around when leaving work as people had been known to be stabbed here. And defintely don't walk along with your laptop in full view. This was on a trading estate! We went to the local pub. Actually a nice looking place in a quiet estate. Nice. Not so nice when we came out and one of the cars had a smashed back window and stuff was nicked. Great...

It's starting to come back to me why I came out here in the first place...

Cheers

Indeed…

The last straw for me in the UK (Maidenhead) was waking at 4am to find a burglar climbing-in through the bedroom window. The police quite frankly (although they arrived promptly) seemed to have no interest in actually catching the criminal or retrieving Mrs. CyprusGrump’s wedding, engagement and eternity rings. I had a bunch of keys the size of a prison warden and had alarms on the house cars, business…

Compared to the UK there is no crime in Cyprus.

To be fair, I had to do a little work to understand your spelling and lack of punctuation. However, I read it this way: -

My translation of your post wrote:Cyprus does have its pros and cons though; my friend who lives there has been burgled twice in six months while I live in the UK and have never been burgled. We all love Cyprus but it is going the same way as the UK.

Which I took to mean that if Cyprus does not currently have more crime than the UK it will soon?

I think you have been misinformed.
