ISOLATION IS AGAINST CONSCIENCE AND DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES

SOYER:
INTERNATIONAL ISOLATION IS AGAINST CONSCIENCE AND DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES........
It is against the human conscience and democratic principles to let a community which produce science and humanity to suffer from the international isolation’ said Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer.

The Premier said the Turkish Cypriot People, is sending its message of existence to the world through science.

Prime Minister’s words came during his speech at the Near East University’s graduation ceremony which took place last night.
Referring to a statement earlier made by a British Lord that those studying at the TRNC universities had the right of education under the human rights principles, Mr Soyer stated that this statement was a result of Turkish Cypriot efforts aimed at ending the international isolation through education and sympathy.

Ferdi Sabit Soyer also announced that FIFA- the International Football Federation Association- has sent a letter to the TRNC Football Federation in which it said it is ready to negotiate the issue of international isolations concerning the football activities with the TRNC Football Federation.

International isolation against conscience and DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES !!

I most certainly agree with the above principles and I'm certain the 200 thousand Cypriots whose land and property have been taken away from them would most certainly endorse these fine principles. You cant have your cake and eat it. The international community , including Britain , consider that the part of Cyprus that this delegation is promoting is in fact under Turkish occupation. They will be sympathetic and diplomatic but will not succumb to pressure in establishing either direct flights or direct trade until a solution is found.

Can I just ask you Halil , are you realy expecting the 700 thousand or so Cypriots to lend their support so that their lands are permanently absorbed by Turkey and that part of Cyprus is annexed by Turkey .

If you can go with the illegalities of the "RoC" and only see them as Cypriots then I don't see why not. I am a Cypriot that is telling you this and not from Turkey so you can take it or leave it.

When I mention Cypriots I mean Cypriots , you know that by now so stop pretending. The difference between one section of our community and the other is that one is under foreign occupation , while the other is not .

Care to break that number of 700000 down or do they qualify just for being in the "RoC". I think there was a very large portion of those that do not want unification but you still call them Cypriots regardless of your past rhetoric and conditions.

There seems to be at least one Cypriot in the south anyway

Supreme Court accepts marriage in north for residency claim
By Jacqueline Theodoulou
A UKRAINIAN woman who married a Turkish Cypriot in the occupied areas has been granted residency by the Supreme Court.

The court decision is the first of its kind granting an implicit recognition of marriages conducted in the north.

Tetyana Tomko first arrived in Cyprus in December 2004. She married her husband a few months later in the occupied areas.

In September the following year, Tomko requested a renewal of her temporary residency permit to remain on the island with her Turkish Cypriot husband, who is a legal resident of the Republic.

The application was accompanied by the birth certificates, passports and identification cards of the couple’s two children, also issued by the Republic of Cyprus.

Tomko’s husband works at the British Bases and his family lives in Kyrenia, in the occupied north.

The Immigration Department’s response to her request was: “Your application requesting temporary residence in Cyprus has been examined carefully, but it can’t be handled positively as you live in the occupied areas.”

Tomko took the case to the Supreme Court, saying that the Department’s excuse for not granting her residency had no legal basis and was discriminatory.

The Republic’s defence lawyer argued that Tomko’s marriage was not recognised by the Republic as it was carried out in the north.

He added that the Immigration Department’s response to Tomko’s application had strong legal backing, as the Republic had no control over the occupied areas.

But the judge disagreed: “The recourse is a success as there was no legality to the excuse provided by the Immigration Department to the applicant.”

I am wondering who is keeping your Universities isolated. The truth is their diplomas are accepted in the Uk without any problems. Each and every foreign University evaluates the syllabus and judges if the degree is equivalent and accepted or not. Perhaps Soyer is just seeing dreams?
