AHMET YONLUER REPLY TO HRISOSTOMOS WITH A LETTER

Postby halil » Mon Jun 25, 2007 8:16 am

The Head of the Religious Affairs Ahmet Yonluer has called on the Greek Cypriot Archbishop Hrisostomos to avoid from making hostile statements which cause dispute and hatred among people.

Mr Yonluer replied to Hrisostomos’ letter dated back to 9th of May concerning the restoration of religious sites both in North and in South Cyprus.

In his letter to the Greek Cypriot Archbishop Hrisostomos, the Head of the Religious Affairs Ahmet Yonluer said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is a secular state and does not have a religious leader which has the authority to govern the country.

Mr Yonluer reminded Mr Hrisostomos that he does not have the authority as the head of the religious affairs to decide on the restoration of the Greek Cypriot Orthodox religious sites.

Commenting on Mr Hrisostomos’ recommendation to appoint imams and clergymen to religious sites in certain areas on the island, Mr Yonluer said it will be logical to take up the issue according to the number of pious people in these areas.

He expressed the belief that he and Mr Hrisostomos share the same view that the religious persons are in charge of encouraging peace between Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriots as well as dialogue between religions.

Mr Yonluer said Hriostomos’ hostile words which he used in many occasions create disappointments and doubts over the sincerity and called him avoid from using a expressions which cause dispute and hatred among people.

I wish Mr Yonlur all the best trying to negotiate with the head of the Church in Cyprus. Best not say any more on what I think of the Church Institution.

Yonluer said the same in the past BUT he never said what those hostile expressions were.
He did the same when he cancelled his schedule meeting with the Priest. He said the Bishop said hostile things publicly. Like what????????

Pyr, I cannot stand the church and all the power games that go with it, as far as am am concerned the institution of the Church is the anti christ itself. I find it difficult to understand why the church needs so much wealth, I fail to see why Kykos monastery looks like a palace. I did not see Jesus living in a palace and I hate the fucking hypocrites who suposedly spread the word of God doing the opposite.

I really do not want to to turn this into a debate about the Cypro,

The Church of Cyprus probably has enough wealth to have assisted each and every refugee family did they?

Am sure Yolnur is no angel either, I just made the coment in sarcasm.

You are absolutely right humanist. Anti Christ/Devils they are indeed with some few exceptions. Unfortunately there are some people who need them as the last refuge before suicide or madness. This is the sad truth...

Anyway i was only interested to learn what are the things Yolnuer did not like from what the Bishop said. Personally I never heard it saying anything against the TCs.
