The Cyprus Issue: What Is the Next Step?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Tue Jun 26, 2007 2:37 pm

You know damn well that under the circumstances the vast majority of TCs will not trust to put their fates as a "minority" in our hands.

Pyrpolizer, the vast majority of TCs will accept nothing less than partition anyways. This means there can never be an agreed solution for unification. As long as they have the power they will force what they want, partition.

Unification will happen only if it is enforced against the will of Turks and the majority of TCs. Sad but true.

I would understand your argument if by making a few compromises on some of our rights an agreed solution could be found. However it is very clear that such thing can not happen. Turks and TCs will accept nothing short of partition. Therefore do not denounce our rights for nothing.

But Greek Cyprus was very hasty to decline the Turkish offer, making it clear that it could agree to open any of the airports in Turkish Cyprus for international flights except for those heading for Turkey.

The truth is the Turkish offer was clearly balanced, and it would have benefited Cypriots on both halves of the island, it would have even presented a launch pad on the path of the final settlement of the Cypriot issue.

A lot of promises were made to the Turkish Cypriots about alleviating the siege, and that was after their affirmative vote in the 2004 referendum on the plan of the former Secretary General of the UN Kofi Annan concerning reuniting of the island; a plan which was supported by the international community and rebuffed by Greek Cypriots.

Above is a part of the article by which this certain theme started.
What the writter is missing here is a basic and very important point.

The opening of a direct commercial activities with NC is not because someone want to punish the TCs.

The embarco is not there because same immpossed by GCs/.
Is there because this is the letter of the international law.

"No state can be created by the force of an invasion"

The NC is not an official state since same is a result of an invasion of a foreign army.If NC be regognised by international community then everybody with a private army can invate small countries and create his own state!!!

Secondly about the liability of EU to TCs because they voted yes to Annan plan.

Voting yes for a solution plan means that same either giving equal rights to the two communities (equal in line with int law) or the plan is fully in your favor.
In our case Annan plan was the second case. it was giving to the invasion forces/country the 95 per cent of their requirements-Top of all - recognision of the "state" created by force.Secondly the plan had nothing to do with EU regulations and was forcing the ROC to be transformed to a "Banania"

When we complaining for the GCs "NO" voting we should firstly read the plan.

Neither EU neither GCs have any liability because of the rejection of the plan-simply the plan was not good and/or fair.

Any TCs rights on Islands territorial waters and other incomes are there on basis they are acting as citizens of the state ,paying taxes etc .In case , any citizen of ROC do not comply with all obligations which are required for someone to be a citizen , he has no right to ask benefits.

Closing and recapitualating the ports and airports of NC are not recognised for international trade for the simple reason that same are operated by an inlegal authority which created by the force of arms.

Tcs can request all their rights only when they start to comply with their oblications as citizens of the official state.

Tcs should not even be considered as European citizens since they do not comply even for this part of their obligations.

A European citizen can not be controlled by military power as all TCs in NC are.

A fair solution , covering also this famous TCs safety (who has this problem TCs or GCs?) would be a European state without army forces and NATO force (exluding Turkey and Greece) to secure safety for both communities.

Give to GCs such a plan and then you will see a 99 per cent YES.

Kikapu; Could you possibly guess what would the situation of Cyprus be in the next few years.Without commenting who thinks who is right, who started this or who did that? We have a rough ideas about what we realy want as a solution, some realistic and some not so. In fact all forum members could put down as to how they see the near future. (no dreams) in realistic and pragmatic terms. At the moment all I see is a gradual separation of two communities eventually leading to a permanent bizonal federation of some sorts. This, I would blame on gutless politicans on one hand and an ultra hardliner who has no intention of uniting the island on the other.

The virgins need months of preparatory work Kikapu, and unless you love one too much to make her your wife it doesn't worth it.

For other women, it sure matters. The most expenive the place the more they get excited. Take them around show them a nice building tell them this building is yours, (hey about a boat in your case) say a lot of lies, wear expensive clothing, drive an expensive car, and you are half way through. But the ultimate trick is a glass of wine or beer. My statistics say most women totally lose control after just a glass of wine.Amazing really!

Yeap I have statistics.     (from the good old days

Now that we are talking boytalk amongst ourselves  I will tell you what really works with Western women....
You invite them to your place...Set the place up really romantically.Candles, soft music ,flowers, the lot.....Then cook for them while they sit back and enjoy a good glass of wine...Then you serve the meal and refuse to let her wash up afterwards....It hardly ever fails.... :D

Which is something I cannot say about the cook and the washer up...

Piratis what is it that you want and cannot have TCs do not deny that the army and settlers will leave, that GCs will return to the north or accept compensation, everyone will be able to settle where they wish...what is your problem? sharing power? do you not want to allow us the right to say no to GC domination? we know what happened last time and the result have you not learned anything from the past mistakes?

Piratis wrote: You are welcome to stay in Cyprus as a minority, and we are ready to forgive you for the immerse suffering you have caused to us since the day you set your foot on our island. You as Cypriot citizens can be 100% equal to every other Cypriot and as a Turkish community you can maintain your different language, religion and everything else that you want. What you can not do is to forcefully erase the history of our island just because you don't like it, and try to Turkify part of it by means of murder and ethnic cleansing. If you do that, then we will treat you as an enemy, and your destiny will be the same as the one of all the other foreign invadors that ruled our island against our will.

You know damn well that under the circumstances the vast majority of TCs will not trust to put their fates as a "minority" in our hands. I have personally saw the violent character and brutal face of the GC fanatics in the 60s and I tell you I was scared of them. Imagine a TC who did not just "see" those people.

The solution will be some sort of Federation or back to 1960 constitution BUT in both cases the TCs will administer themselves. Slowly slowly they will come to see the majority of us are not different than them, and are good people. The same will happen to us who think the Turks are nothing but "attilas" who did all those terrible things to us in 1974.

Please do not scare the TCs with what you know is their deepest fear.

Are you well?? have you bumped your head on something? real turn up for the books or are you just taking the piss?

oh i get it...its your turn to make Vps day. We've decided over here to take turns...it helps to keep him on the straight and narrow.

Just tell me/ point me one post of mine out of my 3000+ in this forum that I ever said any different than what I already said. I challenge you or anyone else. Just point me one.

The fact that I fight the fanatics of your side doesn't mean I am a fanatic of the "other side". You should have been clever enough to know it, but what the heck you are a fanatic too who hates "hearing Greek voices around him/her"

Everyone has read your posts and knows what you stand for and your attitude and mentality. Your last posts just threw mw off as they seem to be coming from another Pyro who has dropped his guard and shown that he understand a lot of what we have been saying so that why ı thought it warranted a response.

Think of it this way if I wanted to hear Greek voices everyday I would go live in Greece, this is not an attempt at insulting anyone the same could be said of French or German etc.

That is a very sad conclusion you have come to,dear Piratis....
While I fully understand your frustration and apprehension, sanity dictates that we should never even think about resorting to force to achieve unification...Pyros is right I am afraid....It is softly softly or nothing...
My advice is not to put too much trust in the EU's powers of forcing Turkey to do anything....And if you are thinking about an armed struggle against Turkey, you might as well go and jump off some cliff right now.Cypriots have suffered enough from trying to impose their will on each other...It is time to start building bridges at all cost...And convincing people it is safe to walk across them...

I am not denouncing anything Piratis. I just underlined the point where we can and we are willing to go.
You are right the majority of TCs don't seem to accept anything but real or disguised partition.

On the other hand you will be surprised to know how many TCs are more Cypriots than even you and me, I can give you names and telephone numbers from TCs IN CYPRUS if you want.

My beleif is we have to help that minority of TCs who want true and fair unification become more.
