The Cyprus Issue: What Is the Next Step?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

miltiades wrote:Zan , I'm surprised at you , you see loser is the English version where looser is the Cypriot one , is a bit like gran pri , people spell it as grand prix !! So your version of "loser " makes it sound like "poser" where my version of "looser" is the equivalent of "boozer " , now you wouldn't spell boozer as bozer would you ? !!!!!

I am sure if I was two sheets to the wind I would actually understand that

GR , you are responsible for this , you see little old plonker was bullied in the UK , he is only 5 ft nothing , you start talking about mercenaries and this guy is shitting him self , memories come back from his school days in UK.

Do you know what really baffles me? A guy can't talk about anything anymore without everyone getting upset over this or that!

Sometimes we need to put our emotions aside and concentrate on the technical side of the issue at hand. I don't remember now how but I had a crack at discussing a military confrontation between two countries and I was expecting people to be pragmatic and reply with pros and cons of such a scenario so we could stimulate our minds and instead I got all these funny frowns!

Everyone knows that a military confrontation is possible and always remains an option so it should therefore be discussed! What's wrong with that? Would you all prefer that I start writing about the fine art of bonsai instead? Aren’t we here to stimulate our minds? Well it’s not going to happen with bonsai!

My God Cyprus is a small place ........ too small to be divided .......... Let us all work toegther to make it whole again shall we.

Good idea, under what structure do you suggest we do this? do you feel we need any safeguards allowing for our dark past and current day mistrust?

There is no mistrust amongst us VP , Turkish Cypriot , Deinizacsulu , Bir , DT , GR ( MINUS THE MERCENARIES !!) All trust each other , as for DT he even made a magnificent gesture to shave his beard of if I could attend ! I think you should go VP , it will do you a world of good mate , even Halil is going , maybe even Eliko !!!

I will be in Cyprus mid July for a long weekend so I may just catch up with these guys , they have a great deal to learn from a 61 year old , about wines that is.

And where do all these guys live??? and they have the nerve to tell us how to live and what risks to accept, thanks but no thanks its my neck on the chopping block not yours.

VP...Its only a Lunch for gods sake...We are not going to UN to sign an agreement & we are not going to war either..
Ligten up man,no one will chop your or my head off,we'll just have something to eat & drink meet each other.
We already know each others political views and couple of hours is not going to change them but at least its a positive step to show we are civilised enough to get together if & when necessary without stabbing eachother..

Bravo Iceman !! VP is and always was a UK born looser , he is not a Cypriot and yet he demands to know where all these Cypriots reside !!!Once a plonker always a plonker , once a looser always a looser and Mr Plonker is a bloody disgrace , go on be vulgar since you have no bloody sense of homour you may as well be your real self .

Ok you moron keep up the insults and as I warned you will get them back, its a valid point you live abroad and try to dictate to us that we are wrong, I was like you ut when I moved to the TRNC i saw for myself exactly the situation and why TCs have such an ingrained mistrust for GCs. eat and drink with GCs but dont do business they will grab the first opportunity and stab you in the back.

Of all the people on this forum you are the most boring old fart , you have no sense of humour , you have no wish to hear a "foreign" language , you mistrust people that you never mixed with , in the UK I know that you were teased and bullied at school , every one on this forum , almost every one , is willing to interact in some way , but not Mr Plonker , who considers stepping out of his fools' paradise as going overseas , but remember his head might be found on the chopping board , I wonder if the chopping board is red or blue .!!

I for one never intended to discuss the Cyprus problem or anything political during this lunch. We are meeting because we know each other mentally and have certain things in common such as an interest in Cyprus, an interest in politics, and various other compatibilities that two or members may have discovered over time including the use of computers and forums, etc.

I've met a few virtual friends and all my experiences thus far have been pleasant but I can understand apprehension and it's just a signal that you're not ready for that yet. If you come I'm sure it'll be a pleasure meeting you and if you don't I still get the pleasure of talking to you here.

Regards, GR.

Be sure to remember what you have said on the forum as many people hold a grudge looking for a payback and may turn up with more than a friendly smile

OK...everyone gets searched at the door

What are we to discuss GR? You know exactly where that type of talk is gong to go and that is whose bombs are bigger than the others. We have enough of that on a political level and under no circumstances must we even consider such action. I will argue with you about my rights till the cows come home and I will petition every country in the world to lift the inhumane embargoes but not one drop of blood should be spilt on the island again.

If what you guys mean by "debate" is something like...

VP: You're a GC!

kikapu: No I'm not! I'm TC...

VP: Prove it!

Kikapu: I don't have to so there!

...then I think it's time some of us moved on! :(
