IPC getting on with the job:

Postby paaul12 » Sun Jun 24, 2007 10:52 am

Looks like the Immovable Property Commission are getting on with the job:

Meanwhile Politis reported yesterday that the European Court of Human Rights has rubber-stamped a settlement reached by the breakaway regime’s property commission regarding a property exchange.

The case concerns a Greek Cypriot refugee who took to the commission and, instead of compensation for his property in the north, agreed to be given in exchange property in the south belonging to a Turkish Cypriot refugee.

The government does not recognise the north’s commission.

According to the report, Strasbourg has already notified the Cyprus government of the arrangement, and the Greek Cypriot refugee has been removed from the list of applicants to the ECHR.

I don’t think the above decision will be welcomed down south, i wonder why?

If this is in fact correct it will be a major change in the dynamics of the property issue and encourage GCs to apply to the property commission. Im very happy for refugees who have been waiting 33 years for a solution which the GC administration knows full well will never arrive as promised, always claiming that all refugees will go home.

Very good actually. So the "committee" will soon aquire thousands of new clients. I wonder what will happen when soon enough it won't be able to satisfy anyone. Any ideas?

The fact is I am looking forward for the day that "committee" will beg the ECHR to declare it ineffective. I said it before Turkey is diging her own grave....

The 1400 cases and others to follow will take time to process, by that time Turkey will be in the EU and the world will be so different

As they say a week in politics a long time.

So if Turkey will be in the EU it means she will get away with it, is this what you are saying?

Man just admit it, there is nothing you won't do just to get a little bit of recognition. Even dig your own grave.

The answers come to those who wait and here is another answer to the question "Why is the RoC" suddenly giving TC property to GC refugees. Answer: to pre-emt this move and so that many refugees simplt cannot give their land in exchange and the proplem goes on. Now...What was the name of that politician that the "RoC" fired because he was speaking up on the side of the rights of the refugees that wanted to sell their land. What a tangled web they weave.........
