Greek? What Greek? I AM CYPRIOT!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Greek? What Greek? I AM CYPRIOT!

Postby Strahd » Tue Jun 19, 2007 1:43 pm

For thousands of years the majority of the population of the island of Cyprus in the present numbering more than 80% is distinctively Greek in all aspects. The Greeks from the island of Cyprus share common language, culture, ethics, beliefs, traditions, religion, history, struggles, heroes and foes with the rest of hellenic population of this planet.

However there is a very small part of the Greek Cypriot population that mainly due to the events of 1974 has distanced itself from Hellenism and is struggling to persuade the rest that it is impossible to be a Greek Cypriot and that we Cypriots are a different breed of people. In addition they label us as fascists and nationalists because we have accepted the truth that we the 80% of the population of the island are Greeks and we are the lucky ones from the other islanders of the Aegean to have our own sovereign recognized state!

In addition there is the general belief that whatever Greek or of Greek origin adopted by our society, including simple things like using only those Latin characters that are common on the Greek alphabet for our car number plates and getting rid of the idiotic "ΛΤΔ" for the Turkish or Greek equivalent, is going to harm our fragile relationship with those who have supported the ethnic cleansing and massacre of thousands of Cypriots.

Change their history, their language, their believes and then put them in fire. it would be no reaction.

this what they are doing to the Gcs for the last 40 years. The worst is that some G Cypriots are part of this game.

A direct translation is something like... "He who has a Fly becomes a Fly"!

Remember what happens when a Fly flies around you pestering you? How one makes all these funny movements trying to get rid of it? Well, if the Fly wasn't there one wouldn't be behaving in that way would they?

I can't explain it any better... hopefully someone else will have a go! :)
