We all need a good laugh.

This is true Kleftico "Stolen". You don't just steal the food but walk away with the whole bloody oven. :)

Pls tell me what is the differences between KLEFTİKO and PSİSTO/KÜP KEBAP

Chunks of lamb, which are usually wrapped in foil paper, with potatoes, tomatoes and onions, baked in a brick oven for about three hours.
In the old days they used to bake küp kebab underground, where they had a clay oven.

NHowarth Ha ha ha; I bet you the food doesnt taste the same. My late father never lost his sense of taste till he passed away(UK). He kept on asking why they never brought him any Kebab. I had to to that every day.The only way to ensure he had some nourishment. RIP

Halil, they are meant to be the same. The Kup Kebab, Kleftiko, tandir (tandoori) all originate from the kleftiko. How many people recognise the Indian Tandoori as the Turkish Tandir?

Deniz,
for me KüpKebap is different than Kleftiko and others.... u know what is the meaning of the küp. one day if u come to cyprus pls let me know i will take u the village called Dağyolu to eat küp kebap.belive me u can leak your fingers. than u can discover what is the differences between küpkebap and kleftiko.Your dad was right to fancy his old days and his taste. The meat is very good in the village because all the animals are eating natural things nothing is artificial or no additives.almost most of the küp kebaps lovers knows the GARA ALİ's place in NC.İt is a small butcher shop in the DAĞYOLU(FOTA) village.İt is 20 Kmeters from Lefkosa and Girne.

Thanks Halil, I merely pointed out they they have the same origins. We will all improvise our own versions of these delicious foods. Like seftali kebab with lamb or pork, or the use of differing flavourings etc. I will keep Fota in mind. Thanks for the info, always.

The best ever Kleftiko i tasted was in Dip Karpaz (Rizokarpaso) The tastiest meat is there because as you pointed out the animals eat natural food..

Halil, btw, I do know what KUP is. In greek they are called Pithoi, very large red clay jars. These were nearly 2 inches (5 cm)thick. I was trying to help my grandmother to clean one. I dropped inside and could not get out . We used to store oil in them. From the ground they were about 5 feet high. I did not know that they were pointed at the bottom and submerged underground to a depth of about three more feet. I was 12 at the time and it took me a lot of shouting to attract my grandmothers attention before I was hauled out. I never did that again. Now I laugh at it. We had six of these in our store room. All varying sizes and glazed. Another TC family had nearly a dozen of these gigantic ones. They had more olive trees than us.
Goodbye
