What is the UN Security Council going to do about it?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

What is the UN Security Council going to do about it?

New York - The UN Security Council Friday extended the 43- year-old peacekeeping mission on Cyprus for another six months while denouncing the continuing division on the Mediterranean island as unacceptable.

We have heard the words for 33 years no actions to match. If Turkey is found guilty of many illegalities why hasn't the UN impose an economic embargo on Turkey till the Turkish Army removes it's troops and all Cypriots have the right of return to their rightful properties, homes and villages?

You'll note that the peacekeeping mission is 43 years old, starting in 1964. If the UN had placed an embargo on RoC then maybe no Turkish Army would be here now. However, since the UN is a political body, its votes change with the political mood. Being stuck in a groove of quoting decade-old resolutions, you may have missed the more recent ones calling upon the two communities to negotiate their own way out of the mess our politicians have got themselves into. Since Papadopoulos, the GC community leader, refuses to meet Talat, the TC community leader, maybe it would be better if the RoC was embargoed.

By the way - what is this doing under 'Tourism' - unless humanist thinks that UNFICYP are tourists, which many of them think they are.

The new resolutions just add to the old ones but they do not replace them. Turkey just doesn't give a shit about UN resolutions and the UN doesn't do anything about it because Turkey and USA are friends. If Cyprus was Kuwait and Turkey Iraq it would be totally different. The UN would make one resolution after the invasion and it would be executed without delay.

Regret for my expression "fake" this was refered to the mentality of some local people which affected sereously by ecomomic and other affairs after 1974
