Postby pkb1 » Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:41 pm

Hi.....can anyone tell me why there is a distinct lack of estate cars in Cyprus? the only ones we have seen are ones that have been bought over by their british owners, do they not sell them in Cyprus?....we are coming out to live next year and i need an estate car, will i have to bring my own?....i couldn't afford to buy new but i haven't seen any for resale either
cheers

Well you see pkb1, us Cypriots have this thing about showing off and an estate is not the right car for showing off. A lot of Cypriots have a secong car (usually a twincab) as a work horse.

u can get a brand new 407 estate for 11500CYP... or bring a second hand one from UK which will cost almost nothing to register. Also seen loads of Renault Megane estate... all SUVs here are registered as ESTATE :)

I wanted to get one but ended up getting brand new Nissan Navara Twin CAB :D

Hi Ray, thanks for the info..............i have a 406 at the moment, i need the estate for the transporting of my dogs to shows and such,4 x 4 's just not enough room in the back for all my parapinalia...we have tried them all [ my husband a 4 x 4 specialist sales exec ] and the twin cab is fine except the dogs are not in the car with you per sae
so you cant keep an eye on them whilst traveling. I'd love to bring mine with me but i have heard [ and read on here!] so many horror stories about delays, impoundments and extortionate costs i'm a bit wary
Hows your lovely doggie by the way?

Sorry for jumping in on someone else's question, but I'm really confused about what I will have to pay if i bring a car from the UK to Cyprus. I personally imported a Pajero from Japan to the UK. Some of the information I have says if I've paid the duty and VAT in the UK I don't have to pay it again to enter an EU country but other research says I have to pay exise duty etc etc. Do you know what the reality is? I'd appreciate a reply!
