I am trying to get a definitive answer to an MOT test problem.

My daughters car was never originally fitted with rear seatbelts and passed it's last MOT test two years ago.

Now her car has failed the latest test because the car has no rear sealt belts.

I someone pulling my chain or does anybody know the facts

Directive 2003/20/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 April 2003 amending Council Directive 91/671/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the compulsory use of safety belts in vehicles of less than 3.5 tonnes. Official Journal No L 115, 9.5.2003 pages 63 – 67. This was transposed into Cyprus Law by 9 May 2006.

Surly if the car was made before the reg', then it dosn't apply to it???

You could take out the back seats???

Just get those fitted without tensioners... really cheap. I fitted those into my old MAzda in 2003 when they just announced it. Takes about 10 minutes for any car accessory shop to fit those.

Now THAT sounds like a practical idea, i'll check it out tomorrow.
