England may become a muslim state!

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

QAMERSLAND, the subject of Islam was bound to attract a great deal of controversial opinion due to the fact that the 'Media' is portraying as much negativity as possible in order to satisfy the politics of the day.

There are undoubtedly some very serious issues relevent to the interpretation of the Q'uran/Koran, those issues are precisely the reason for so much of the aforementioned controversy.

The Q'uran is the sacred book upon which the faith of Islam is based, it is written as an instruction as to how one should conduct one's life and covers ALL issues.

There are those who misrepresent the teachings of the holy book, it is to their lasting shame that they do so.

The words of the Q'uran are clear, they cannot be altered, they cannot be successfully interpreted into another language since the structure of the language does not allow an EXACT interpretation and must remain pure.

The Q'uran is therefore an absolute truth, one LETTER of alteration is not permitted and it is because of those facts that all the misunderstandings occur.

Islam , is NOT a line of bearded Pakistanis waiting for a hand-out in a dole queue, NOT a suicide bomber, NOT a smelly neighbour who spits on the pavement and barges past with a shopping trolley, Etc, Etc, Etc.

The teachings of Islam ARE (in my opinion as a non- Muslim), the most profound of all religious teachings, it is a matter of grave sadness that people are so ready to condemn something of which they have little knowledge.

I have read much of the Q'uran (an English interpretation) I am certainly not qualified to condemn it, neither do I feel are many others of my ilk.

In conclusion, I do believe that the whole world would benefit if it WAS subject to the teachings of the holy book.

:) :) :) :) :)

We are grateful that such an eloquent and well versed individual has cleared up any misunderstandings that some of us might have had about Holy books. Perhaps this verse could also be explained by this individual .

"""004.034
YUSUFALI: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all). """"

miltiades, there was no need for your opening comments, by so doing you defeat the object of your enquiry.

However, in an effort to answer your question I would initially stress that I am not of the faith of Islam.

THAT fact disqualifies me from issuing any subversive comments about something to which I am not connected.

My personal experiences among some of the devout followers of Islam, do allow me to venture an opinion on the
manner in which the said followers conduct themselves in their daily lives.

Given that they accept the teachings of their Q'uran and practice them accordingly, I can see no reason why WE, (of other beliefs), should not afford them the same rights as we ourselves enjoy.

A heap of Camel dung, is a vast fortune to a Scarab, it is all a matter of perception you see, there is no reason why you and I should be constantly at logger-heads, let us agree to bury the hatchet and perhaps begin to learn something of each other, I am sure such an agreement will produce some surprises.

I have posted many times in the past that I consider the THREE evils of the world to be , Religion , Nationalism and Greed .

Most conflicts in the history of our planet have had as a main ingredient one of the three evils. Religion is not a unifying entity but a divisive one and to go on pretending that this or that religion is the way forward is a complete fallacy.I rest my case and will desist temptation to reply further.
