If somone is willling to take that as proof of inoccense of the other side then its their own narrow minded, opportunistic, wasn't breast fed as a child mental imbalances that they have to deal with.

Well said DT! Image

I do not think DT was paranoid! It sounded more like he was about to pull his sword out, and dash to deal with the person who said it. Wait until he goes to have few drinks in the pub in a little while - it gets even better

They are instead labeled as "Comfort Girls" as if they were volunteering Prostitutes. Just to who's "comfort" were they there for.??

The inter-communal fighting/conflict was conducted by two relatively miniscule groups of guerillas (EOKA & TMT) who engaged in sporadic mini battles and revenge attacks over a period of 15 odd years during which around 1,000 people in total lost their lives or if you like around 65 people per year! Just for the record, we actually get more people dying in road accidents each year these days in the RoC.

I should also mention that EOKA primarily targeted the British colonialists followed by the GC communists whereas the TMT targeted EOKA and TC civilians refusing to adhere to Turkish orders of segregation.

Having said that Kikapu, please answer the following questions:

1. How on earth did you see fit to use these American and Japanese utterly inappropriate “analogies” if not to grossly sensationalize?

2. Please explain why I or anyone else for that matter should today apologize to anyone else over those evenly balanced events I described above, especially given that we were not even involved but victims?

3. Where do you actually see the “extermination” or “genocide” of Turkish Cypriots I wonder?

4. Finally, please direct me to a forum and thread where a TC has actually apologized to anyone so far and I’ll direct you to multiple apologies of GS’s.

Regards, GR.

DT, I do not make enemies easily. I do not make enemies with people I have different points of view with, otherwise my lady wife would be enemy no: 1. which certainly is not the case. I hope she does not read this because I am terrified of telling her when   I disagree with her. I better hide the rolling pin!!

GR,

I was not suggesting that individuals should accept responsibilities of the wrong doings of others, but we as people of our communities and our leaders should acknowledge of our communities or our countries wrong doings. This is why I suggested that each side ( community) write down truthfully what each side did to the other, and then have a day of reckoning.

I agree with you, just by me saying, as an individual, that I accept responsibility of what my community has done in the past, and that I will take the blame, is totally meaningless, if our government has not done the same. That was the reason why I used the analogies as I did, regarding the USA and Japan. It is the responsibility of the governments to make the acknowledgment and apologise for the wrong doings of the past. In the case of Cyprus, it will be very appropriate to have leaders of the TC's and GC's communities to make these acknowledgments.

South Africa is a good example, as to how they dealt with their past ugly history.

Finally, Extermination or Genocide was not even a subject for me in my examples, to be tied to the Cyprus problems, be it be the TC's or the GC's. I was merely pointing out, just how difficult some countries find it to admit their mistakes, and all it does is, it just follows them for the next few hundred years. It will be much easier to admit the wrong doings, pay the cost, and move on. This can be a good lesson for Turkey to follow, regarding 1974 events.

GR I know what you mean.
What makes me really mad, is not so much the truths, but the lies.
Just make a search in this forum to find out how many TCs claim to be from Tochni....
