On this forum alone there are more than a dozen True Cypriots , wait for it though , some looser will call us the Dirty Dozen. Well I'm Lee Marvin how about you Kikapu.
I see myself more like Donald Sutherland playing the role as "Vernon Pinkley". I seem to have Pinkley's character in me a lot, you know, cool, easy going, a little goofy, very lovable, patient, not driven by money or greed, cares about his team, he's funny, dress casual, has courage, plays against the odds, not afraid by the ENEMY, likes his wine, and makes funny noises. Overall, he's a winner.
Sorry Bir, but Robert Ryan was a boring, power hungry egomaniac old fart.
I know why you chose Telly Savalas too. I knew his Niece as a matter of fact.
So tell me Miltiades, when do we start growing facial hairs, to live up to our name as the "Dirty Dozen".
Who else wants to add their names.????
I wanna be one of those German guards. You know the ones that seem to drop like flies. The ones that last about three seconds in the movie because that way the Dirty Dozen can be made to look good.
I might have a few surprises for you though this time round.........And then there were eleven......and then...........ten.........nine..........eight............cancell the film it does not seem to be going right. New film..."Ze Dirty Von".
Zan, you do not need to re-write anything, because at the end, only one of the "Dirty Dozen's" survived which was Charles Bronson, along with the Sergeant and the Major of course.
As for seeing the German Soldiers falling like flies, you should see Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton in the movie
"Where Eagles Dare".
Seen it and it is not as memerable as the Dirty Dozen.
Really, it is one of my all time favourite war and espionage movies.
I have the DVD.
How can you say that when there are films like:
Bridge Over River Kwia
Schindler's List
The Pianist
Saving Private Ryan (until the end which was a mess)
The Longest Day
The Killing fields
Guns Of Navarone
A Bridge Too Far
Platoon
Great escape
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
They make the bunch of old men that were in your film look just that, a bunch of old men
Zan,
You sure know how to spoil a good post.!!
All the films you have mentioned above are great. "The "Great Escape" and "Guns of Navarone" are also one of my favourites. The topic was on "German Soldiers falling like flies" was the reason why I mentioned
"Where Eagles Dare", because that's what happened, just like in "Dirty Dozen". Plus, I said it was a good "War and Espionage". Most of the films you listed are re creations of their own wars which were very brutal, too realistic, and very bloody, and not a "Action Pact Fiction" as the films we were talking about, which made good entertainment.
Anyway, I think we have more in common talking about films than we do in politics.
I really enjoyed the exchanges.
