You are very welcome to pass the photos on to whoever would like to see them. They are not related to my family in any way and I am wondering whether they were originally posted by a traveller in Cyprus at the time.
There used to be places in some villages where travellers could stay overnight or longer if they wished. I believe they called them Hanias (nearest spelling I can think of).
Sadly most of the people who would remember those days are no longer with us, but there are still a few who are often to be found in the local cafe where they will relate the old stories to anyone who is willing to listen - and most of the audience still show respect and marvel at the memories of how it used to be in the old days.
However, in the village where my husband spent his youth, most of the customers are like him - returned home after many years in the UK. However, I have to be honest, they didn't leave their UK habits behind as they pop into the betting shop for the UK racing.
Many regards, annaka
