These people Kikapu, no longer understand or care about "Haram!" The only thing they know is the word "Kismet!" It is their "Kismet" they think, because they are Turks! After all, didn't their (god) father Mustafa Kemal say to them that "one Turk equals the whole world?"

"Haram" is a word that we grew up with, along with the word "Kismet" or "Insallah".

That's a little scary to think that One Turk equals the rest of the world.

Does that mean, that if only ONE Turk stays alive, the rest of us can be killed off by the millions, and still consider ourselves to be the MAJORITY of the world.

Sounds like a job VP would like to have.

Kikapu, do not worry about the "one Turk equals teh whole word!" Mustafa Kemal was most probably drunk when he uttered it, andf he didn't know what he was saying! The scary thing is that his "children" picked it up and made it a slogan to write on boards in scools, mountains, walls, and even chant it in schools so that they "educate" pubils and proove to them "how happy to say they are Turks!"

What a banal, bizzare and kitch society those kemalists have been trying to develop!

Whats all this with Mustafa Kemal tonight?? he must have made a GOOD impression on you
Was it in Smyrna that he sorted out all your "anchestors"??

Nope! Thanks god he did not sort-out any of my ancestors! Only his "children" are trying hard to "sort-out" me and the rest of the GC owners of northern occupied Cyprus! He and his "young-Turks" have only managed to "sort-out" the Greeks of Pontus in 1916! His “children” are trying to continue his “reforms!”

PS: I was only considering sending him a letter to tell him about his "children" and how well they follow his "principles," the "six arrows" so to say, but this Kurd beat me up!

I couldn't finish reading that link....stopped at the allegation about Ataturk getting his Mum to kiss his hand...That is a totally incredible allegation....The man who refused to step on the Greek flag on the battlefield ," because it is the symbol of a proud nation", would not have allow his mother to kiss his hand...

It is a pity that the writer got too carried away and started personal insults on Ataturk, hence lost all credibility in my eyes...The same goes for his drunkeness...He did like his drink of course and died of cyrrossis of the liver...but he was no more a drunkard than I am...

The Kurds have very legitimate grievances againt Turkey, and the right to try to air them in any way they want...But ignoring the fact that most attrocities against Kurdish people happened after Ataturk's death,by those who invented Kemalism to stay in power indefinitely,is a misfortune to say the least, which will do nothing to advance their case... :( :(

I always considered KA to have been a great man for dragging his nation into the 2oth century by the scruff of the neck. What if he disliked the long robes and dress sense of Muslims that refuse to move into the 20 th, or now the 21st century . He would not be at all impressed was he to be in London today and witness people in biblical clothing , surely he was a moderniser and a secularist who understood that for his nation to move forward certain changes must be made. There is a rumour that not only did he like his drink , and I dont blame him for that , but that he also had an insatiable appetite for sex , amongst his conquests being a certain Queen ?? All human weaknesses no doubt .

Was it in Kofinou, and the red villages, that Grivas did the same to your people?

So the question to you is:
Are these the things that make you feel proud?
