A matter of loyalty and principle DT. Just like a majority of GCs refusing to cross over to the TRNC because they refuse to show their passport to our authorities.

Please do not interpret this as me being a hater of everything Greek. Ror all its worth I visit more Greek shops for my day to day requirements in North london than Turkish shops.

This is why, it would have been nice to re-open Nicosia Airport with separate exits, one for the "TRNC" and one for the RoC, as we have at Basel Airport, one for Switzerland and one for France, same airport, but Kifeas once said, that due to taller buildings in the vicinity of the airport, it was no longer an option.

no worries mrfromng..wasn't fishing for anything.

No problem DT. While we're on the subject, please look at the departure lounge in Larnaca next time you are there and see if there is anything at all to encourage us to use this airport.

I travelled through Larnaca once and both myself and my wife felt offended that there were no "thank you " "welcome" in Turkish on any of the posters in restaurants or any other public areas of the lounge.

We noticed posters in Russian, Hebrew (I think) and a few other languages but nothing in Turkish. I think that's a bad PR move on behalf of the airport management.

Why don't you explain it better so that everyone may understand:

Your airline is quite happy to give false and/or misleading information to civil aviations around the World about their journeys and destinations so that they may serve a clandestine airport.

How can it be false or misleading information GR? You hand your ticket over at check in which clearly states the destination as ERCAN.

Are you implying that the airport authorities at the point of departure are not aware that the flight will ultimately end up in the TRNC?

I think I noticed the fire exits in Turkish mrfromng.

Actually I don't remember seeing any welcoming signs in any language. Then again, it was 2 am and I really did not care about any welcoming signs.

Just wanted to get to bed.....please.

I know its not a big deal Kikapu but as they say in Turkish "sinek'de kucuktur ama mide bulandirir"(a fly is tiny and harmless but still will turn your stomach if found on your food)

My wife and I noticed on the table of the departure lounge restaurant welcoming and thanking the guests in 4/5 languages but nothing in Turkish.

I don't think the problem is whether the plane is going to Ercan or not GR, it is only a concern to the British Authorities that it does not go there on a NON-STOP flight.

I'll tell you something though. If the Ercan flight does not make a landing in Turkey as the "flight Plan" is design to do, and once the aircrft makes a B line to Ercan after passing it's intended city of landing in Turkey, and this flight disappears from Radar, there's going to be hell to pay for this, both with the insurance companies, and cancelling landing permits to the UK, for the offending airline. I don't care if everyone aboard knew that they were going straight to Ercan without stopping in Turkey first. Their their families lawyers will be demanding action........money, and sue for fraud along naming the British Government in the suit, specially the British Nationals, for looking the other way, for allowing this practice to continue.

Until then, Have a Happy Flight People.

That may be mrfromng, because the restaurant at any airport, as well as the duty free shops, are all independent from the airport authorities. They are just renting space, and do not need to follow any rules, regarding in what language the items are written, but your point is well take.

I also noticed in the RoC while driving around, was the "wild fire Danger signs" were in Turkish, as well as Greek. Maybe English also, can't remember.

Actually guys the entire airport is a private venture now. COmpany called Hermes is operating it while the new one is built next door., so you won't see any signs there for anyone if it won't make some cash. Maybe with the increased traffice of TC's using it they will notice the Kerchinng and put some more signs up.

Capitalism has a way of making everyone happy (long as they can afford to buy something)
