how can we go forward?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

how can we go forward?

Postby pitsilos » Thu Jun 07, 2007 11:58 am

the way i see it, endless amount of posts of denials, from both sides ain't getting as anywhere.

what is also obvious to me and imho is that trust is not out there. somewhere along the line true history is been replaced with one sided views.

i think what cyprus needs is an open reconciliation, similar to what happened in SA. and i propose that in order to get the truth is to wave immunity.

the reason i say immunity is firstly as i said to get truths and secondly, i think as in the case of the paper today, the four individuals that commited the murder had to live with it the last 30 years. i think they been punished.

then we discuss when/how we can live together.

pitsilos, the problem is that there is a chasm (as VP says) between our aims.

The majority of GCs want a truly united Cyprus, the majority of TCs want partition and they accept "unification" only as a label and not as an essence.

Those that want partition have nothing to gain from reconciliation, friendship and trust, since their partition aim is served better by maintaining and increasing the hostility and conflict between the two sides.

If we a had a common aim and the differences were on how we would implement this aim, then things would be much easier. As it stands now, with totally different aims and with Turkey having the power to enforce illegalities, there is absolutely no chance that an agreed solution can be found.

I'd wish you all the best if you had good and honorable intentions by claiming/establishing your Turkic utopia on Turkish soil where it belongs but NOT on the sacred land of my 10,000 year old ancestors.

If you have no respect for that then do not expect me to have any respect for your community.

There is no way forward Pitsilos.

The Cyprus problem will be solved by itself through sudden developments we cannot predict. Some political maneuvers will also lead there, but they will all be one sided. There is absolutely no possibility for an agreed solution.

Something similar to what happened to former USSR. Even those who were working for it's collapse had their doubts it could ever happen.

We will keep working too.

From a GC perspective we have to stop being so greedy and apathetic and work hard for a solution which I just don't see happening now. Life in cyprus is becoming about cosmetics, frappes and posh cars, where are the mass demonstrations? Where is the motivation for a solution?
How has Tpap improved things since he's been in office?
In public relations terms he has been an absolute disaster. Unfortunately both the TCs and GCs have turned this whole problem into the equivelant of siblings fighting and saying to the parents 'he started it....no i didn't and look at what he did to me!'.
I wish there was a forum somewhere that was more civilized, where people don't get attached to their positions -and instead tried to understand each other. And that's an approach which should be taken in real life as well.
As a GC I think the TCs are being completely unreasonable demanding in effect their own state. I feel the people are brainwashed puppets to the Turks who just want a piece of the Cyprus cake. BUT I'm happy to question and change my views but every thread here turns to shit.:(

If you have nothing against us then give us our special needs that the whole of Europe agreed we should have after years of talks, in the Annan Plan and then we can all live happy ever after. If not tell us what you are really aftert so we can talk like men.

Some of what you say is right but ask yourself how you would feel if you were forced to live in a Cyprus where 80% were TCs and all government offices and political leadership were all TCs? It would be no different than e going to live in France which is not my country unlike Cyprus , do you understand what Im trying to say?
