How has Tpap improved things since he's been in office?
In public relations terms he has been an absolute disaster. Unfortunately both the TCs and GCs have turned this whole problem into the equivelant of siblings fighting and saying to the parents 'he started it....no i didn't and look at what he did to me!'.
I wish there was a forum somewhere that was more civilized, where people don't get attached to their positions -and instead tried to understand each other. And that's an approach which should be taken in real life as well.
As a GC I think the TCs are being completely unreasonable demanding in effect their own state. I feel the people are brainwashed puppets to the Turks who just want a piece of the Cyprus cake. BUT I'm happy to question and change my views but every thread here turns to shit.
Some of what you say is right but ask yourself how you would feel if you were forced to live in a Cyprus where 80% were TCs and all government offices and political leadership were all TCs? It would be no different than e going to live in France which is not my country unlike Cyprus , do you understand what Im trying to say?
First of all this is not YOUR OWN Country. You are only part of it as everyone else is. You own nothing exclussively other than your own properties.
For the sake of an argument let's suppose that while you are only 18% of the population you are given lets say 60% of the political power. Do you think you could handle it? Who would be your constituency, who would you serve? Who would be the bussinessmen who would support you? Wouldn't you always serve your own 18%. Wouldn't all your support money come from only that 18%? wouldn't all the GC bussinessmen backup the other part that has only 40% of the political power?
In the end wouldn't that part that has only 40% of the power become so strong that it would be as if it had 82% of the power? And wouldn't your part that was given 60% of the political power become so weak that it would be as if it had 18% of the power?
What I am trying to say is forget about this minority/majority issue. This is not how things work in reality.
