Hi GR , I come as often as my workload will allow me , mostly 5-6 times a year and always for short visits 3-5 days , ofcourse as you may know that the most precious little girl in my life , my granddaughter is in Limassol and its such a pleasure hearing her call me Pappou Krasi , though recently she dropped Papu and just calls me Krasi !!! She is a cute little thing , like everyone elses garndchildren are , and at the age of 3 and half speaks Greek and English , she always speaks to me in English and to the other grand dad in Greek.
I said before that I do not consider the Cypriot wines to be anything else but drinable. Im diabetic and stick to dry wines , alas , Cypriot dry wines are still sweet !!. I drink whites in the summer and they can be quite refreshing , I find PETRIDES , VARDALIS , VASILIKON , ARSINOE , TSIAKKAS very enjoyable and lets face it when on the beatch in Kourion , Dasoudi or the Amathous beach restaurant , the scenery and ambience takes precedence over wine texture ! My all time favourite whites are the French , Graves from the Bordeaux area , most if not all white burgundies made mostly from the chardonnay grape , the Montrachet from Cote De Beaune is an extremely rich and powerful wine renowed the world over, not forgetting the Loire region great Sancere , made with sauvignon varieties , and finaly the Puily Fuse and Puily Fume .
I think that there is indeed potential to produce some superb wines in Cyprus but much more detail has to be applied in selecting grapes from one only area and the wine making process to be monitored with ephasis on temperature , sugar content and storage of finished product.
