Hello to one and all

Postby Colmax » Mon Jun 04, 2007 8:31 pm

I have been reading this forum for several months and have eventually plucked up the courage to join in, I feel a little like a lamb to the slaughter, so please be gentle. The wife and I will be travelling to Cyprus in July, taking a leisurely drive, route yet to be decided, has anyone done this? All advice gratefully received.
We will be looking for a Pad to stay and will be baseing up in Paphos initially for 3 to 6 months, in the hope of eeking out a living, "somehow", As we want to commit long term, maybe start a business, a Bar perhaps?
But were not under any delusions, will give it our best shot, hopefully meeting lots of new & interesting people on the way.

Colmax, welcome to the forum and good luck on your overland trip, you can obtain an excellent route-map from the R.A.C., it will inform you of all expenses, places of interest and accommodation.

This information is readily available and is an absolute asset for such a journey, best wishes and safe journey. :) :) :) :) :)

Hi Niki & Eliko
Thanks for the welcome and advice, our route will probably be quite random to take in the sights, we need to decide on the ferry crossing route, its all still a little woolly, as we are so laid back and will probably end up going with the flow.

Colmax, as an afterthought, I did spend some time in Braintree a while back, I was staying in a house in College Road, I believe the number was 84, it was a semi-detached house a few doors down from a sub-post office, there was an interesting older property opposite, I wonder if you are familiar with the area?. :) :) :) :) :)

Eliko, what a small world, we used to live a couple of streets away in George rd, the post office you mentioned has been turned back into a private house, it used to be really handy for the papers etc on a Sunday morning, we currently live on the other side of town but have sold, hence the move.

Colmax, delighted to have made such a connection, do advise you to avail yourself of the assistance the R.A.C. can give you on your intended journey, it provides all the maps and suggested routes together with times and distances between all the stages of the trip, well worth looking into. :) :) :) :) :)
