If the guy mentioned in that article has not restored his citizenship yet, looks like he can easily do it now, as there is a recent Supreme Court case law according to which it looks like it is virtually impossible to strip anyone of nationality once it's been acquired even if one lied/cheated/falsified documents to obtain it. The peculiarity seems to be that the law says something like this:
If one lied etc. to get the citizenship he/she can be stripped of it. BUT and it is a big but, the council should not take it away unless it can prove that keeping the citizenship by that individual really badly conflicts with public wellbeing. Looks like it must be something serious like national security matters. Arguments like "to set an example to discourage others from doing the same thing" are not good enough (see the above link to the case law).
