After waiting 3 years for the darned things to be imported and 7 months from the time of ordering, I've now taken delivery of a hybrid car (Honda Civic Hybrid). This should reduce my carbon footprint by well over 1 tonne/year. Have done ~120 km with a consumption of 5.4 l/100 km, which ain't bad for a start, with tight bearings and learning how to get the best out of it. It seems very sensitive to gradient: to Nicosia on the highway 4.9 l/100 km. from Nicosia, same road, same speed on cruise control 5.8 l/100 km, with ~200 m altitude difference. To the next village, 2.7 l/100 km: from the same village 7.6 l/100 km, possibly ~60 m difference in 2.5 km. Nevertheless, impressive figures for a mid-sized car.
And I'll get £700 back from the Government, very low tax and low insurance for a 1350 cc car!
