LEna, those 2/5" drives are sealed...even the mainboard on those HDD is sealed. Dry the contacts up and use 2.5" Enclosure then u can connect it via USB to any PC and recover your data.

If your keyboard is sticky with coffee you can clean it in a dishwasher and then dry it in the hot Cyprus sun. It may sound unbelievable but my PC teacher told me this and he said it works about 50% of the time, its always worth a try.

ever heard of a last resort of recovering shocked HDD?

Freeze it overnight in a blanket inside your freezer...
then in most of the times it actually starts and spins enuf time to do your recovery :D

Gee thanks for the handy tips guys... here's another you can add to that list. To clean your TFT monitor just throw it in the washing machine but be sure to set it to "delicates"! 8)

Methinks you are taking the piss GR. I could do with a new keyboard so I'm going to wait for a sunny day and try the dishwasher method, and if that works I'll sling the whole PC into the washing machine. I'll let you know how I get on. :)

Sorry Lena about your news, but like everyone said I believe that your stuff is not gone and you might have to pay some money to retrieve it but at least you will have all your work back. If you send me the laptop i can do that for you :) I know I know you might not wanna send it all the way here, but I am sure someone there might be able to do it for you maybe for the money you would pay for the post.
