Also even closer to Stoumbi (almost walking distance) is my favourite village of Miliou. It must be one of the most beautiful villages. I used to love the coffee shop there and whoever I have taken there to visit always remember it as a highlight of there trip. There was an old man (Mr. Antonis) who owned the coffee shop and was a such a lovely character. The coffee shop was even featured in the Cyprus Airways in flight magazine. Unfortunately Mr. Antonis was run over and killed by a car a few years ago in Stroumbi and the village is not the same any more without him. They don't have a coffee shop any more and the villagers are quiet lost without it. I visit there sometimes to get supply of my favourite honey. It also has the most amazing variety of wild flowers. I will try and find a picture of the coffee shop.

Found some pictures from Miliou.

Mr. Antonis deep in thought.

Even though we went for a coffee, soon the zivania and the little meze came out. Any excuse for Mr. Antonis to have a drink.

Kafenes , on my next visit I will like you to accompany me to Miliou and Lemba .I have been to few villages in Paphos , namely , Polemi , Kathikas , Yiolou , Theletra and one or two others. Time permitting we could taste some of that Zivania , what do you say !

I went to Stroumbi early this month on my way to Istinjo , and I always stop for coffee at the coffee shop in Pano Stroumbi , you know the one with the wonderful views of the hills across , I always make a point of telling whoever is listening that I WAS BORN HERE !
Have a good Sunday mate.

Miltiades and Kafenes. I envy you. I have only ever been to Paphos once and that was to the Town itself. The surrounding hills and forests must be lovely. I had some friends at high school form Istinco and Houlou, but I know nothing of the area. What a vacuum in my brain. So little time.......

militiades my friend, It would be a pleasure to accompany you. We could also invite my friend Takis (who knows every inch of Paphos and has a story for every village) to come along. We could do all the villages all the way to the most beautiful Stavro tis Psokhas and even further to Kambo Tis Tsakistras. Itb would be even better if Deniz came along as well.
You have a good day too my friend, I am off to the Timi sunday market for a little walk and then to Anarita to see an old friend and have lunch.

What a shame about Mr Antonis, he looks such a kind man.

Both my sons are coming "home" today but not for father's day - tomorrow we bury my father. He died, aged 94, in the Pilgrim's Hospice in Canterbury of cancer. He had a good life and was always campaigning for a solution to the Cyprus Problem. In spite of his patriotism and our sadness at his passing some "official" in the local Greek Orthodox Church is making it difficult for us to have an Orthodox priest at the burial because we did not approach the priest through the right channels so its quite likely there will be no Greek side to the burial. I reckon this "official" is typical of Cypriot politicians - no wonder we can't solve the Cyprus Problem.
Sorry I've gone off thread.
