Get Real, thats even better. I'll go get my ticket. Ooops, too early. I love Cyprus archaelogy. When I saw Khirokitia for the first time I used toimagine the houses were built by extraterrestrials. Erich von Daniken might have been  right. I wonder if he visited Cyprus? I dont remember any references made.

GR I hope by then you will have a large 4X4. Wewould need it so I can show you "Yet Undiscovered" possible archaelogical interests in the south. My late father had a lot of ideas he passed on to me. The problem would be identifying the giant olive trees landmarks etc. I think they got pulled down whilst building the new motorway. Cyprus is so full of history.. But I would like to try.

I can take you somewhere in the north where you'll find around 100 gold sovereigns in a cigar tin! My father (jeweller) and I buried them there 2-3 days into the invasion.

You and I have a lot of digging to do!

Get Real, I'm on my way to Tymbou., and its all yours. Why didn't you tell me before. We could have scouted. Can you imagine in a thousand years time some one finding a stash of gold coins and crying EUreka/buldum. I wonder what language it'll be.

I don't know if you can access the village houses there. Yeah, you're right about the language... could be a Tukosapien talking ancient Greek!

A few years ago, a shepherd who kept his herd in an old house in the old Turkish village of Vrechia was taking his herd out to graze when he met a tourist who asked him if he knew where a certain Mr."some Turkish name"
lived. The shepherd told him he has only been there after 1974 and the village was deserted by then. After half an hour the shepherd looked down the hill to see the tourists car outside the house where he keeps the herd. He makes his way back to the village but by that time the car had driven off. Looking in one of the rooms where he kept the sheep he found a missing floor tile and a hole underneath. Bad luck eh? but lucky for the true owner of 'whatever there was there' to get his things back.

Hi Kafenes, I also heard a few stories like that. Its sad. I bet the poor people thought theyd be back soon. I blame Mars for all this. That bloody god of war should have kept away from the isle of Aphrodite. :x :x

About Khirokitia, I often make the Paphos Larnaca drive and always stop at Khirokitia for a coffee, and every time I stare at the hill across and wonder what the natives wore or how they communicated. Last week I was sitting there with my wife and I told her " I wonder what language these people spoke" to which she answered "Who cares". :) I guess you either have it in you or you don't.
Have you ever visited the historic village of Lemba Deniz?
