Apologize for rude word up there but we were playing hangman , weren't we ? :p

Hey Scotman, jambo :) Did u read this ?
Iraqi woman approved for residence
By Alexia Saoulli

POLICE have accepted the residency application from an Iraqi woman as the mother of a Cypriot child.

Speaking to the Cyprus Mail yesterday, Aliens and Immigration assistant unit commander Christakis Pavlou said Anayda Hermiz’s application had been accepted by Limassol immigration police on Thursday.

“Her application was accepted despite the fact that her passport has expired,” he said.
Pavlou said the woman had been told to try and renew her passport, but knowing it would be difficult, if not impossible, due to the current political situation in Iraq, he said it was more than likely her residency permit would be granted without it.

He said the final decision lay with the Civil Registry and Migration Department, which has the authority to issue residency permits.

“We have accepted the application and will on Monday send it to the Migration Department for approval, as is the procedure,” he said.

Hermiz, 29, was turned down for political asylum earlier this year on the grounds that she was not Iraqi, despite police confirming the authenticity of her passport.

She has a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Angela, who was fathered by her Cypriot ex-boyfriend. Although the father has not recognised the child, a court named him as the father, adding him to the child’s birth certificate. This has allowed Hermiz to apply for residency as the mother of a Cypriot child.

I WAS SO HAPPY FOR THAT WOMAN WHEN I READ...

SO I GUESS I DO STAND A CHANCE AFTER ALL ,, ESPECIALLY THAT I M NOT AN ASSYLUM SEEKER NOR AM I IRAQI .. (POOR DUDES) ;)
THE LAND IRAQ WAS ONCE THE CRADLE OF ALL CIVILIZATIONS ,, LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO IT NOW ,, IT IS REALLY SAD,, BUT C'EST LA VIE..

Its nice when you get a positive story like that..
I read her husband was trying to get her thrown out,
so that he would not have to pay support for the child ??
