Claiming VAT on property

Postby Hazza » Tue May 29, 2007 11:02 am

Anyone know how I can do this? Bought an appartment in January, my first property bought in Cyprus. I paid VAT on it, and I seem to remember the developer telling me I can claim some VAT back on it.

Anyone know how I can go about doing this? What forms do I need? what documentation do I need? Where can I get the forms from in Larnaca? Any ideas as to how much VAT I can get back (appartment cost £66000).

Thanks :)

There's a first home owners scheme going under the Ministry of Finance where you can get the first 10% back of the VAT paid (in other words you end up paying just 5% VAT instead of 15%).

You need to lodge the form "Edisi gia horigia gia tin anergesi i agora kainourgias katikias" AFTER you've moved in the new house/apartment and acquired 2-3 phone and electricity bills which you must include as evidence that you live there.

Here's the relevant website...

Good luck.
