Only a fool would argue the case for " tcs being of 100% Turkish" descent. Lots of educated TurkCyps are aware of this. What matters now is that they call themselves TCs. Obviously the latins - and there were quite a few important families (French and Italian) did not all leave after the Ottoman conquest. When I see tall blue eyed peasants ( do not mean the word as being derogatory), I ask myself, who were these people . They look neither Greek nor Turkish. The same applies to the accent of some geographic areas in Cyprus. How different they sound from what we generally call TCypriot language and GCypriot.. Cutting a long story short it is all these various peoples who make up the Cypriot population (indegenious Cypriots, Greek, Armenian, Maronite and Turkish speakers). As always I am proud to be A Cypriot, but how is it possible to delete the Nationality prefix from it? Do we have to take this action for a settlement? Easier said than done. As I said in a past post, if I state that I am a Cypriot - which I do say - the reply is " oh! you are Greek then". I dont think mant TCs will subscribe to that idea. :?:

My wife has just gone to buy a hat. How disappointing no wedding! What better way to improve inter T and G relationship than a marriage. But Lena you told Karma (or implied) that you were free. Must be somebody you just met then. Lucky guy. But then somebody ought to tell him that Lena always has the last word and the last laugh.

Denizaksulu...I am happy that you still can find time for the forum...happy to have you here. By the way are you one of the people that think the GC are Greek and TC are Turks?

Well I am single Denizaksulu that is for sure. I didnt imply anything I was clear with that but that doesnt have to do with the fact that DT want to lead me to the church with BigOz...oh my God...what did I said? It will not be a church...anyway...the fact is that I dont want to get married because as I said I am too young to die and because I am not in love with BigOz, but if you want i will let you know when I will find him to tell him that Lena always has the last word and the last laugh!

Lena,Turk, if they have a TC passport are Turks. (I know you know TC stands for Turkiye Cumhuriyeti). I cannot call myself a Turk as I do not have a TC Passport. But my Greek friend in Constantiniyye can call himself a Turk. I am first of all a Cypriot, who happens to speak Turkish, bit of English bit of primitive village greek ( according to GR). But very much out of practice. When I go to the Green Lanes to a Turkish shop all the Greek Cypriots speak English ( I need to get more practice on the forum, alas the only words I am learning here are swear words.. When it comes to the Greeks of Cyprus I will let them sort themselves out. GR is trying to do that for them, and now for all his pains he is turning into a Dufus. I think GR is the most misunderstood person on this forum. Re-think your poll votes.

I dont consider him as dufus but he wanted us to vote for someone that will win a price for being the dufus of the month. He didnt succeed last time for the member of the month so i wanted him to be the winner this time. That's all, I have only tried to please him.
As for the rest first you have to find some Greek speaking Cypriots to practise your Greek and not shopping from that shop just to learn the swear words. Well, as far as I know what Get Real told you must be true. Almost all the TC that I know who speak a bit of Greek, speak the village Greek that my grandparents used to speak. And I believe is because of the war, we separated, you stop speaking Greek that much and we focused on the modern Greek.

The family might have, but I assure you none of my girlfriends ever complained about my mouth's abilities!
