Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported today that the rape case of two Swedish teens had finally reached a court ruling. And the verdicts are… two men were found not guilty and two other men were each fined with 1200 euros. Quite amazing, perhaps the Turkish court wanted to attract more tourists by showing how non-expensive the country really is.
About crime cases: The rapes happened last year on august and in October at the tourist resort Alanya. Even though the rapes were separate incidents they both took place at the same tattoo studio belonging to a popular night club Robin Hood.
One starts to wonder if the Turkish justice system is ready for the EU. Come on, two set free and two get 1200 euros for two rapes, that’s just too cheap. Turkish court systems seems to have strange ways for measuring things. A couple a days ago a local newspaper presented the sentences, which the Turkish reporters face if they write things the government don’t like. The penalty scale did not mention 1200 euros, but everything was measured in years in prison.
