new furniture

Postby mentor » Fri May 25, 2007 2:27 pm

Hi everyone. I have been looking at previous threads regarding furinture or furniture packs. I will have a studio to furnish in Peyia. So would prefer to shop in the Paphos area If I can. As its a studio I wont wont much. Its for ourselves and some rental for now. So it doesnt have to be the best only new. Where are best places to shop. Do any shops take credit cards. Can we haggle with cash. I didnt find a definate thread on Ikea, is there one yet. (Ikea I mean, not thread) Ok thanks...more questions to follow when I see how you act to this:)

Try steptoes -- they have some excellent package deals to suit all sizes of appartments and pockets

www.steptoes.biz

The furniture will be delivered and installed for the price stated in the package deal .

Lots of folk have used Steptoes to furnish properties they are letting out and been very satisfied.

its up to you.. If you give me a list of what you want I can ask them for you... I dont make money from this,
I bought there on many occasions, they are very good guys,
then I needed access to 3phase electric to run a machine that i bought,
and they offered me space in the furniture factory, free of charge until i got sorted, so I just return the favour and recomend them to people.
though they are good, and not expensive ..

Thanks again jambo. Not quite sure what we need as yet. Need to bring my tape measure over and see what will fit where. I've had a look at their web site but it doesn't show much.

cheers

We intend to move permanently to Cyprus in the near future.
We found most of the decent furniture shops in Cyprus very expensive, as we intend to bring a number of personal items to Cyprus including my Bass guitar, amplifiers and speakers it works out that it is better to buy in the UK as we have done and use it for a short time then transport it in a container.

Steptoes looks very good, is there anything like that on the east of the island?

Have a look at the Cyprus eastern forum web site -- I'm sure I've seen somewhere similar spoken about .

Don't forget that you can get a healthy discount almost everywhere in Cyprus .

I bought all my furniture stuff from one shop and secured a very good discount plus a few freebees -- did the same for the white goods at another shop.

Steptoes do very well because they have tailored their business to suit the expat that needs to furnish a flat / villa in one go -- even a lot of the locals use the shop as well.

For someone who is not used to bartering and squeezing a good deal out of a seller then steptoes is really the place to go

I will say that I've never used steptoes myself but I know many on the west of the island that have and they have no complaints at all .

One guy actually had all the stuff delivered and set up before he arrived which he thought was excellent sevice and it felt like home as soon as he walked through the door .

If you don't have a place similar to steptoes near you don't worry -- look for a shop that has all the items you are interested in and wear them down bartering -- have fun

Oh and please resist the temptation to go for the cheap and cheerful type of shops -- they turn out to be not so cheerful when something goes wrong and in fact some can be really nasty in their "customer care"

remember ask for a discount !!!
