Bravo and Thank you!!! Thats the realistic approach!!! People dont realize Turkey is meant to leave the island according to the agreement he made. Sooner or later, there will have to be a solution and now is the convenient time. Turkey is breaking international law by forming "artificial population" in the north and am sure we all know this. Each day we are being "turkified" more and more. If this operation goes on and on, one day we will wake up and sea nothing left of our Cypriotness and that day will be too late for us to realize we did nothing to stop this from happening....
Gizzy, you are a TC that -unlike some others in this forum and out there, doesn’t seem to be “concerned” or “afraid” of your community being dominated, assimilated and eventually lost among a GC majority, should the two communities come together in a re-unified Cyprus. Why is that? I personally do not believe or accept that the GC community or any of its leadership has any such ambition or objective, nor that is that easy should there was one, however, being a TC yourself, what makes you so confident that this will not be the case?
Before the british came, we used to live side by side and there used to be no problems. Perhaps again there were some *retards who used to do stupid things but in general things were ok. There was no "assimilation" problem by then. There are many TCs living abroad and especially UK. Why arent they scared of being assimilated by the british?
In the future, I would not make it a problem if any of my child married a person from another country. Why? The reality is globalization is hapenning and there is nothing to stop this. However we can learn to cope with it. Things are not the same as the past now and the world is changing and we have to be flexible in order to cope with it.
Morover whether some people like it or not,
it is scientifically proven fact that genetically TC and GC are closer to each other than to Greece and Turkey! Therefore there had been many mixings in the past and it shouldnt be a concern now and there is no difference between a turkish speaking cypriot or a greek speaking cypriot genetically!!! I am doing genetics and I reseached a great deal on these evidence which I can share on a seperate thread. There wre some articles on this in the past on the TC newspaper, I think it was the Yenidüzen who puplished it. Some people can choose to mix the GC while some dont. However this shouldnt be called as "assimilation" coz we are the same people anyway. There will always be greek and turkish speaking cypriots on the island.
In the past I have taken part in some "conflict resolution" programs in Pyla, Nicosia and I actively met many GC youth. Some of them were "greek nationalists" and some of them were just like me. I think we share the same "Cypriot" culture and we are the same people of the same island except some of us are "artificially injected" some "fake" nationalism. The reality is, we are all cypriots and if you still think that you are "greek" and "turkish" fully, I suggest you take a blood test and see it yourself... It costs like 300-400 dollars in USA , am not sure how much it costs in cyprus....
