TALAT: GREEK CYPRIOT SIDE WORKS ON OSMOSIS

Postby halil » Thu May 24, 2007 10:12 pm

President Mehmet Ali Talat has accused the Greek Cypriot Administration of trying to assimilate Turkish Cypriots through the strategy known as “osmosis”.

The word “osmosis” had been used in the past by the Greek Cypriot leader Tasos Papadopulos while explaining how the Turkish Cypriot People would be assimilated in a solution to the Cyprus problem tailored to the demands of the Greek Cypriot side.
The President of the Republic was referring to the so-called package of proposals said to have been announced by the Greek Cypriot Administration with a view to support Turkish Cypriot economy.

Addressing a gathering in Lefkoşa this morning, President Talat referred to the Greek Cypriot side’s package of measures, which came shortly before this week’s meeting in Brussels of the EU’s Committee of Permanent Representatives which took up the issue of free trade with the TRNC.

Drawing the attention to the fact that the Greek Cypriot side failed to bring the issue up at talks within the “8 July Process”, he said this is another sign showing that the Greek Cypriot Administration is sticking to its ambition of spreading its control over the whole of Cyprus, and presenting Turkish Cypriots as its subjects.

“It is absolutely unacceptable that the Greek Cypriot administration should prepare – unilaterally – a package of its own, without consulting with – or seeking the views of – the Turkish Cypriot side or any of the Turkish Cypriot Chambers of Trade or Industry at a time when the Turkish Cypriot side has been busy with setting up its working committees for future talks with the Greek Cypriot side” he said.

Mr Talat repeated that the Turkish Cypriot side is already aware of the fact that the Greek Cypriot administration does not have good intensions for the Turkish Cypriot side, and that this awareness has been consolidated further when the Greek Cypriot Minister of Education has presented “as a big success” the prevention of the universities in North Cyprus taking part in what is known as “the Bologna Process”.

BBF vs "RoC" Talat views it one way Papadop the other, he thinks he can patch us onto the "RoC" and move away from a BBF, where as Talat moves more inline with a future BBF solution.

Who finaly is this Talat? Does he have any authorization letter from the chief of staff of Turksish military forces or the Generals in Ankara to negotiate and even more to sign a solution paper?

He must be carefull since maybe he will be sent also to UK if he behave against the Generals.

He is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President and he has our support 100%. The fact that he works closely with Turkey should make you feel uncomfortable otherwise you would take no notice of the TCs circa 1963.

ERCAKICA SAYS GREEK CYPRIOT SIDE REJECTED THE SETTING UP OF A WORKING GROUP ON ESTABLISHING COOPERATION BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES.
The Presidential Spokesperson Hasan Ercakica has confirmed that the Greek Cypriot Side has rejected the setting up of a working group on establishing cooperation between the two sides in Cyprus.

He said the establishment of the working group was proposed by the Turkish Cypriot Side at the talks going on between the Presidential Undersecretary Rasit Pertev and the Chief of the Diplomatic Office of the Greek Cypriot Leader - Tasos Djonis.
Speaking during his weekly press briefing (yesterday), Mr Ercakica said that earlier statements by the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Yorgos Lillikas made the Greek Cypriot Administration’s approach towards the 8-July process clear.
Criticizing the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister for trying to present the Cyprus issue as a problem created by the existence of Turkish forces on the island, he said that Mr Lillikas’ statements proved the Greek Cypriot Administration’s belief that it could change the existing parameters on the Cyprus issue in its favor.

Referring to Greek Cypriot press reports that the Greek Cypriot Side had rejected a proposal for the setting up of a working committee, he said `it was the Greek Cypriot newspapers which reported that the Greek Cypriots do not endure to see even the word `cooperation` on papers discussed`.

He said the Turkish Cypriot Side has always been in support of cooperation between the two sides and has been bringing new proposals with the aim of realizing this objective.

Stressing that the Turkish Cypriot Side has intensified its efforts towards bringing about a solution acceptable for both sides, he said it has also been working for the lifting of the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people, as it believes that such a move will motivate the Greek Cypriot Administration towards a solution.

`This is a view also expressed by the United Nations Secretary General and the European Union` he noted.

The spokesperson complained that the Greek Cypriot Side has been using the EU as an instrument to put pressure on the Turkish Cypriot People with the aim of imposing a pro-Greek Cypriot solution on it.

Accusing the Greek Cypriot Side of trying to assimilate the Turkish Cypriots into the Greek Cypriot Administration, he made it clear that any solution which will not gain the support of the Turkish Cypriot people will not be valid.

On the Arestis Case, he said the Greek Cypriot Side – whose appeal against the European Court of Human Rights’ ruling on the case was rejected by the Grand Jury- has been trying to present this as a success.

He said the Grand Jury’s decision increased the TRNC Immoveable Property Commission’s international validity as a local remedy to property claims by Greek Cypriots.

Do you believe that if this so called "president" sign an agreement with GCs saying that TCs took control of all Cyprus, control economy, society issues etc and in addition Greek National guard stop to exist and in addition 10000 NATO soldiers (not Turks or Greeks) secure the safety of TCs then this guy will be a hero for Ankara Generals or he will put in jail?
The agreement will also provide no Turkish army in Cyprus.

What I am trying to explain is that Ankara will insist to stay in Cyprus even all GCs left the Island and only TCs remain or both GCS and Tcs left the island

On above basis i am insisting that there is no meaning to negotiatye with TCS leadesrship since they do nott have the autority to negotiate or ,most important ,per Ankara plans they are not even part of Cyprus problem.

Presently they just using them to suceed a signature for the troops official control of the Island

Unfurtunately many GCs leaders do not understand this or they pretent that they do not know it. Some particularly they are mostly interesting to keep Cyprus as it is , keeping their political role in GCs society.

We are speaking about no more than 300 families who are controlling the life in South and they just changing presidency every 5 years.
