All I can add to this thread is that those of us currently building a house are being asked by CYTA to add a new 3cm PVC pipe in parallel with the standard small phone line pipe which I for one have done. I suspect it’s something to do with cable TV and/or a high speed internet related feature of the future.

You mentioned "phone line" which implies a WIRED connection and satellite which implies a WIRELESS connection. The two don't work together as far as I know so your question was rather confusing.

No, she's asking if its from the phone line or from a satelite dish.

Its just a digital antenna which is available at around £30 Rulla.

You can still use them, you just won't get the benefits of digital tv with analogue antennas.

to get digital tv you are not going to change your terrestial aerial. All u need is to get set-top box.we are planning same thing at north cyprus too.with our calculations simple set-top boxes will coast them 30 USD.
phone lines will be used for interactive tv systems.also u can get combined set-top boxes as well.with this system u can use it to get sattellite, terrestial tv,cable tv,adsl and interactive tv as wll it will cost u more.depends what brand u are getting.it should be araund 500 USD.

You have a choice of buying a HD digital TV with a built in digital tuner or a separate top-set box which is a receiver box that looks like a DVD player. Now they are manufacturing very small ones and ones that can actually plug un the back of the TVs.

If your TV is "HD ready" or "compatible", you definitely need a top-set box. If your TV is HDTV then you do not need an extra tuner (top-set box), the TV has one built in - that is why they are more expensive!

If youhave a normal TV (not an HD-compatible or an HD-ready one, then although the recption of the stations broadcasting digitally will be crisper and better, you will not have the true benefits of receiving HD digital transmission, where the picture quality is greatly enhanced...
