I think you have slightly misinterpereted my post bigOz. Just as the TCs don't trust their neighbours in the south so the GCs don't trust Turkey. Both sides have issues with each other, you won't give us Varosha back - we impede direct trade, you won't stop building on our land - we won't allow direct flights, you give our land to settlers - we oppose international recognition. And so it goes on, you say you were victimised in the 60s and 70s - we turn back the clock even further and point to victimisation by the Ottomans and more recently the TC auxiliary police force. Most of the threads on this site end up in accusation and counter claim and sometimes four-letter words. I have always said that both sides are equally to blame for the current situation. You can't measure pain or death , its an individual thing. It's pointless to use body counts and refugee numbers to prove an argument, both sides have sufferd and both are victims. The majority of Cypriots could sort this problem out for themselves, the trouble is there are a few "hard nuts" on both sides who want their own way; and of course their are the interests of the international "big boys" to be catered for.
