Don't remind me. We just about got that as well as what the women cooked, in the play ground, on open fires.

It is those moments and the queuing up to get hand out from the UN for the next six months, that makes me really appreciate food, as if it was a sacred thing, that it gives me pleasure in eating it.

You just never know, when you might not have it again.

Sorry for going down the old memory lane.

I've recently found out that I myself could possibly face deportation from Cyprus in the event of RoC (as it is)taking over the whole island. Bearing in mind that I was born and raised in Cyprus, the fact I've never met my dad whos Turkish from Turkiye I don't see any other reason than to rid Cyprus of Turks, why I nor anyone in my sitution should be made to leave our country of birth. My mums sister also married a mainland Turk and they've been living in Cyprus since they moved from Turkey. My cousin who was also born, raised and continues to live in Cyprus is finding it very difficult to obtain RoC citizenship because his father is also Turkish from Turkiye...

:D

I don't get that either T_C. If your mother is a TC, then it really does not matter, where your father comes from. You should be able to get your RoC citizenship anytime you want. Same goes for your aunt and cousin. I can understand, the husbands not being able to get RoC citizenship's at this point in time, for obvious reasons, but in the event of a agreed settlement, all immediate family members will be granted residency, then citizenship, once they get their hands slapped, for entering and living on the island, without permission from the RoC, but that will just be formalities towards a full citizenship within the required time period, as long as, they do not have any criminal or war crime records. This is the same in almost all countries.

I'm just making an "intelligent" guess here, as to what may happen.

Please do not quote me.

It must have been a tough time Kikapu, especially for a child who doesn't really know what’s happening...:(

I was wandering actually, whether you'd managed to find out why you were held? Like, for example, whether you were being held
as 'hostages'?..It must be very frustrating, looking back on that week and not really knowing why you had to endure it...

I don't know why we were held Natty. It was in the first couple of days of the problems in 1963, so it is hard to tell. I like to look on the positive side of the whole event, and say, since we were not murdered in the room when the soldiers came to our hiding place, and not one of the 700 TC held as "prisoners" for a week were mistreated, I would like to say, it was for our safety and protection.
