Turkish words in the Greek Cypriots language

Hello Humanist. Explain Selam? You say "Yiassou" and I say "selam". Is that Ok with you. Or are you looking for more ammunition? The word SELAM is my abbreviated expression of the full phrase "Selam Aleykum" and the reply is usually "Aleykum Selam". It means "Peace be upon you" and the reply "upon you be peace". Since the phrase itself is Arabic I and many others (Turkish speaking) nowadays use the word Selam. The older generation still use the full version. Selam to you also.

I find it significant that it does not appear in Halils glossary he kindly produced.

Which post was that? please direct me I found nothing on the 21st May surprising enough. The 18th sounds ominous but as long as I am alive I have hopes.

Halil,

What the hell do you think you are doing, by publishing word similarities between Greek and Turkish words used by Cypriots over generations. Have you not heard what the Partitionist on this forum said, that we have no similarities to each other at all.

Don't let Miss VP and Zan catch you, because you will be sent to the "brain washing" department of the "TRNC".

Second offence, and you will be labelled "Halilopolous".
