Intervention "Occupation"?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby T_C » Mon May 21, 2007 6:58 pm

For TCs Turkey IS the intervening force. The GCs have every right to call it an invasion but the TCs have EVERY RIGHT to call it intervention.

From the GC point of view it was an invasion, from the TC point of view it was intervention..

GCs do not give a SHIT about Turkish Cypriots Kikapu, I am very suprised that a Turkish Cypriot like you has fallen big time for the pretence of "unification" which is just their governements way of getting LAND! If it was about unifying then WHY doesn't Tpapa agree to BBF???????????

I'm done arguing with you. I believe that you are either really brainwashed or a complete Greek Cypriot pretending to be TC. Not because of your views but because you see and speak out about one side of the story only and ignore everything else, if you come back in a year and read back your posts you might notice this.

My worry is that since coming to this forum I have gotten a chip on my shoulder. A lot of the GCs have basically tried to tell me that Cyprus is Greek and thats that, we have to obide by their rules or go away...well to that I say a big: FU!

It's clear to me from the GC government point of view that their only aim is to get land and nothing more...

I am even more anti-RoC then I have ever been since finding out that if the GCs ever do get what they want I WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO BE A CITIZEN OF MY OWN COUNTRY, THE PLACE I WAS BORN AND GREW UP IN BECAUSE MY DAD HAPPENS TO BE A TURK!!!!!!

Sorry but I am not prepared to give up my country and live with people who see me as 2nd rate Cypriot. You go and live in the RoC, I am happy for you, actually I am really anxious to find out what your compatriots would do to a TC in the RoC in the event of recognition of KKTC....

I don't believe it was any of the guarantors responsibility, to restore a "settlement".

If restoring order can only be achieved via a settlement then that is what is necessary and what has eluded us for 44 years. The guarantoes have every right to pursue a settlement that will avoid the problems caused by the 1960 constitution which the GC had no intention of sticking to as they believe it gave TC to many benefits. (ask Piratis)

They fulfilled the first part by intervening, but failed the second part, which was to restore power to the RoC and leave with our blessing.

Back to the "RoC" are you crazy? that would have been the begining fo the end as the GCs would still have pursued policies beneficial to their own aim and thus eliminating the TC factor, where would we be back to square 1.

They never left.

Thank god, this is a TC viewpoint.

How can we resolve anything VP, when Turkey violated every Articles, specially Article II... c).

Turkey is here because we want them dont forget that, 99% of TCs want them here get that in your head. They are the balancing element which has kept even further people dieing in intercommunal conflict, eg Israel/Palestine. They have brought the most peaceful period in Cyprus's history to the island, for 33 years have seen the repeat of murders and disappearences we were witnessing during the GC reign of 1963 to 1974.

If we want to change the rules of the game now and go for the BBF system of government, well, then they should all help us get there.

The rules of the game changed in 1974, we are now divided and will not go back to 1 unitary state, we do not want to live under GC administration just like the GCs do not want to live under ours. Thats why BBF is debated as a solution that will address both sides concerns and is the last solution put forward by the international community which you well know your GC brothers rejected.

So what have they done for us lately, all 3 guarantors

Think very hard and long what Turkey has done and is still doing for TCs today, they are our only real ally and support not only economically but in all areas of development, they are our window into the world which the GCs are constantly trying to close, can you see where the resentment for GCs comes from and why TCs prefer Turks over them?

As my old Girlfriend use to say, "excuses are like Assholes, that everybody has one".

Lets me put this straight to you VP, so that you will not misinterpreted it.

You want Turkey there, to give you the TC version of "Enosis", and only want a Partition. Everything else, is just pure Horse Shit. When you guys and me demonised GC Enosis in the 60'5 and 70's, when at the same time, you and the TC's honour TC "Enosis".

Don't tell me, Turkey could not have used her "weight", from only 40 miles away from Cyprus, if needed, after 74. And you wonder, why I pick on you Partitionist.

Listen knucklehead. I speak as a Cypriot and I speak it the way I see it, and I speak only for myself, and do not belong to any organisation, such as your Racist and Fascist ATCA. Intervention lasted 1 week, Invasion and Occupation lasted 33 years, minus one week.!!!

Which part of my post do you find biased or not true, or do you want to show your Racist colours once again.

If you were a True Cypriot, you will also see it the same way.

So you for one are saying that the initial action was an intervention. Is that right.

Still waiting for all those that wanted a trial to come in and say their piece.................. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Do you have an understanding problem or what.??

Unlike you and all the other Partitionist and Propagandist, I speak only for myself, and not read "Talking Points" from the "TRNC". As an Independent, if the TC's or the GC's do not like what I say, then so be it.

I never said that. What I said is that the 1960 agreements had undemocratic and racist parameters. For example giving to the 18% of TCs the 30% of government positions.

What I said is that GCs, or any individual Cypriot citizen, could challenge in the relevant European courts any racist and undemocratic provisions. If the case was won, then obviously changes would need to be made. The constitutions of all democratic countries change for the best. Look how many changes Turkey made in her own laws in order to satisfy the criteria of EU. Nobody said that changes to a constitution are illegal if/when those changes are deemed necessary by International courts.

Turkey had absolutely no right to do what she did. This is why the UN issued this resolution that day of the invasion. If Turkey had any rights, even at the beginning of the invasion, then such resolution would obviously not be passed.

Therefore the answer to your question was given right away, by the body responsible to make such decisions. The UN and the relevant courts are the ones who determine what international law is, and not any Greeks, Turks or propagandists.

Resolution 353 (1974)
of July 20 1974

The Security Council,

Having considered the report of the Secretary-General, at its 1779th meeting, about the recent developments in Cyprus,

Having heard the statement of the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the statements of the representatives of Cyprus, Turkey, Greece and other Member States,

Having considered at its present meeting further developments in the island,

Deeply deploring the outbreak of violence and the continuing bloodshed,

Gravely concerned about the situation which has led to a serious threat to international peace and security, and which has created a most explosive situation in the whole Eastern Mediterranean area,

Equally concerned about the necessity to restore the constitutional structure of the Republic of Cyprus, established and guaranteed by international agreements,

Recalling its resolution 186 (1964) of 4 March 1964 and its subsequent resolutions on this matter,

Conscious of its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security in accordance with Article 24 of the Charter of the United Nations,

1. Calls upon all States to respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Cyprus.

2. Calls upon all parties to the present fighting as a first step to cease all firing and requests all States to exercise the utmost restraint and to refrain from any action which might further aggravate the situation;

3. Demands an immediate end to foreign military intervention in the Republic of Cyprus that is in contravention of the provisions of paragraph 1 above;

4. Requests the withdrawal without delay from the Republic of Cyprus of foreign military personnel present otherwise than under the authority of international agreements, including those whose withdrawal was requested by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios, in his letter of 2 July 1974;

5. Calls upon Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to enter into negotiations without delay for the restoration of peace in the area and constitutional government of Cyprus and to keep the Secretary-General informed;

6. Calls upon all parties to co-operate fully with the United Nations Peace-keeping Force in Cyprus to enable it to carry out its mandate;

7. Decides to keep the situation under constant review and asks the Secretary-General to report as appropriate with a view to adopting further measures in order to ensure that peaceful conditions are restored as soon as possible.
http://daccessdds.un.org/doc/RESOLUTION ... penElement

So it was clear right from the beginning. All foreign troops should have been immediately withdrawn, the independence and sovereignty of Republic of Cyprus should have been respected, and any remaining problems should have been solved with negotiations.

Very clear. Everything beyond that is lame excuses, which can not excuse the illegal occupation or anything else that the Turkish side has done against international law and human rights since the day they invaded.

I have when you will not give a straight answer. I know you used it in a sentence but do you agree that the initial action was an intervention.

The thing is Kikapyros that there are no GCs answering this thread because they know what is coming next. You seem to have no clue. Have you had no PMs yet??????????? No! Is it because they like to see the TCs (so you say) fighting amoungst themselves and they stay in the shadows until it is safe to come out.... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Please T_C, use small letters when you write.

I do want a "United States of Cyprus". As far as I know, Piratis and Kifeas are happy to have the same system, but in a democratic way. Are you willing to be a Truly democratic Country, with one central government, with 2 states, with all peoples rights and property restored, with freedom of movement. If you know anything about the USA system, that is what I would want for Cyprus.

Or I'm a being "too Greek".

:lol: :lol: :lol:

I suppose GCs and Greece were respecting the independence and territorial integrity of Cyprus when they was trying to annex the country to Greece... :roll:

That is just stupid, how was Turkey supposed to respect the independence of Cyprus? By giving it back to the people were trying to undermine it in the first place??? :lol: :roll: Please....
