Yachts participating in the 18th annual International Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally have arrived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The yachts and catamarans are docked in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for a 3 day-stop over during which sailors from all over the world will be able to enjoy sightseeing tours and evening entertainment.
The contenders will be attending the traditional ‘Pirates night\ this evening at the Girne(Kyrenia), Dome Hotel.
The yachts participating in the Eastern Mediterranean rally arrived in the TRNC yesterday.
The yachts rally started in Istanbul and will end when the yachts and catamarans will reach to their final destination, Herzilia, in Israel on the 20th of June.
Most of the yachts and catamarans participating in the event, docked at the Girne Marina and Delta Marina and will setting of to sea again in 3 days time to their next pit stop, Mersin, Turkey.
The yacht rally - which first took place in 1990 – is part of a project aimed at facilitating free sails between - and entry into – different ports.
A total of 67 yachts and catamarans from 17 different countries with 214 crew members of different nationalities are participating in this year’s rally.
A tour covering Girne(Kyrenia), Lefkosa (Nicosia)and Gazimagusa (Famagusta)districts, is organised for the participating skippers.
