Notes:

“TRNC” is the name used by Turks to call the territory they occupy since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and illegally occupied the northern part of the Republic of Cyprus. “TRNC” is the result of ethnically cleansing the majority of the native Cypriot population from this occupied part and replacing them with Turkish settlers from Turkey.
For the above reasons “TRNC” is not recognized by any country in the world expect Turkey who illegally declared it against all International laws and by violating the human rights of 100s of thousands of people.

Bayrak is the mouthpiece of the Turkish occupying force in Cyprus. They produce various propaganda materials in an effort to present the illegal entity of “TRNC” as a normal state.

UN resolutions about the illegal declaration of the “TRNC”:

RESOLUTION 541 (1983)

Adopted by the Security Council
on 18 November 1983

The Security Council,

Having heard the statement of the Foreign Minister of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus,

Concerned at the declaration by the Turkish Cypriot authorities issued on 15 November 1983 which purports to create in independent state in northern Cyprus,

Considering that this declaration is incompatible with the 1960 Treaty concerning the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus and the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee,

Considering therefore that the attempt to create a "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" is invalid, and will contribute to a worsening of the situation in Cyprus,

Reaffirming its resolutions 365(1974) and 367(1975),

Aware of the need of a solution to the Cyprus problem, based on the mission of good offices undertaken by the Secretary-General,

Affirming its continued support for the United Nations Peace- keeping Force in Cyprus,

Taking note of the Secretary-Generals statement of 17 November 1983,

1. Deplores the declaration of the Turkish Cypriot authorities of the purported secession of part of the Republic of Cyprus;

2. Considers the declaration refereed to above as legally invalid and calls for its withdrawal;

3. Calls for the urgent and effective implementation of its resolutions 365(1974) and 367(1975);

4. Requests the Secretary-General to peruse his mission of good offices in order to achieve the earliest possible progress towards a just and lasting settlement in Cyprus;

5. Calls upon the parties to co-operate with the Secretary- General in his mission of good offices;

6. Calls upon all states to respect the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and non-alignment of the Republic of Cyprus;

7. Calls upon all states not to recognise any Cypriot state other than the Republic of Cyprus;

8. Calls upon all states and the two communities in Cyprus to refrain from any action which might exacerbate the situation;

9. Requests the Secretary-General to keep the Security Council fully informed.

RESOLUTION 550 (1984)

Adopted by the Security Council
on 11 May 1984

The Security Council,

Having considered the situation in Cyprus at the request of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus,

Having heard the statement made by the President of the Republic of Cyprus,

Taking note of the report of the Secretary General (S/16519),

Recalling its resolutions 365(1974), 367(1975), 541(1983) and 544(1983),

Deeply regretting the non-implementation of its resolutions, in particular resolution 541(1983),

Gravely concerned about the further secessionist acts in the occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus which are in violation of Resolution 541(1983), namely the purported "exchange of Ambassadors" between Turkey and the legally invalid "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" and the contemplated holding of a "constitutional referendum" and "elections", as well as by other actions aimed at further consolidating the purported independent state and the division of Cyprus,

Deeply concerned about recent threats for settlement of Varosha by people other than its inhabitants,

Reaffirms its support for the United Nations Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus,

1. Reaffirming its resolution 541(1983) and calls for its urgent and effective implementation;

2. Condemns all secessionist actions, including the purported exchange of Ambassadors between Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot Leadership, declares them illegal and invalid and calls for their immediate withdrawal;

3. Reaffirms the call upon all States not to recognise the purported state of the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" set up by secessionist acts and calls upon them not to facilitate or in any way assist this the aforesaid secessionist entity;

4. Calls upon all States to respect the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, unity and non-alignment of the Republic of Cyprus;

5. Considers attempts to settle any part of Varosha by people other than its inhabitants as inadmissible and calls for the transfer of this area to the administration of the United Nations;

6. Considers any attempts to interfere with the status or the deployment of the United Nations Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus as country to the resolutions of the United Nations;

7. Requests the Secretary General to promote the urgent implementation of Security Council resolution 541(1983);

8. Reaffirms its mandate of good offices given to the Secretary General and requests him to undertake new efforts to attain an overall solution to the Cyprus problem in conformity with the principles of the Charter of The United Nations and the provisions for such a settlement laid down in the pertinent United Nations resolutions, including Security Council resolution 541(1983) and the present resolution;

9. Calls upon all parties to co-operate with the Secretary General in his mission of good offices;

10. Decides to remain seized of the situation with a view to taking urgent and appropriate measures in the event of non-implementation of its resolution 541(1983) and the present resolution;

11. Requests the Secretary General to promote the implementation of the resolution and to report thereon to the Security Council as developments require.

The spirit of the EU is all about reconciliation and compromise. How could it be otherwise when the EU started following a war in which millions of Europeans had been killed. The position of the GC leadership, which is almost the opposite of the spirit of the EU, is providing good publicity for the moderate demands of the TC government.

The Germans ended their occupation of European countries and then reconciliation and compromise came. On the contrary the Turks insist on International law and human rights violations and on occupying part of the independent and sovereign Republic of Cyprus.

An action has been staged in Brussels’ famous Schumann Square by a large group of Turkish Cypriots calling on the European Union to keep its promises.

Around 200 Turkish Cypriots, including businessmen and representatives of NGOs, universities and media organizations who flew to Brussels this morning with a plane chartered by the Chamber of Commerce – called on the European Union to end the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Calling on the EU to stop discrimination of Turkish Cypriots, they stressed that the European Council should keep its promise regarding the Direct Trade Regulation.
During the action organized by the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, around 200 Turkish Cypriots called on the European Union to end the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Carrying banners with slogans calling for the start of direct trade and an immediate end to the isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people, they called on the European Union to stop discrimination of Turkish Cypriots.

During the action at the Schumann Square, a handout was distributed by the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce which pointed out that the Turkish Cypriot people demonstrated their desire for a united Cyprus within the European family, by voting in 2004 in favor of the UN Plan for a comprehensive settlement, which was endorsed by the whole world, except the Greek Cypriots, as a fair and reasonable compromise.

The Chamber stated that the Turkish Cypriot People was disappointed when the Greek Cypriots joined the EU despite their rejection of the Plan and they were left out of the Union.

The Chamber pointed out that the Turkish Cypriot people was still suffering from restrictions in economic, democratic, social, cultural, sportive and educational aspects of life, which have been imposed since 1963 when the Greek Cypriots evicted the Turkish Cypriots from the institutions of the partnership Republic.

It also reminds that the European Council declared its determination to put an end to the isolation of the Turkish Cypriots and to facilitate the reunification of Cyprus by encouraging the economic development of the Turkish Cypriot community in April 2004.

Referring to the UN Secretary-General words that “The Turkish Cypriot vote has undone any rationale for pressuring and isolating them”, the Chamber of Commerce said “the isolation has not yet been lifted, and we cannot understand why our European friends are allowing the Greek Cypriots to dictate their policy on this matter”.

It called on the European Council to keep its reiterated promise regarding the ‘direct trade regulation’ and to adopt the Commission’s proposal as soon as possible without any further delay.

Underlining the need to lift the isolation of Northern Cyprus, it said such a move will give a major impetus to UN efforts aimed at solving the “Cyprus problem,” for the benefit of Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Europe as a whole.

During the action, the Chamber also distributed a list of demands of the Turkish Cypriot People from the European Union.

The list included calls for the implementation of the European Council’s decision to end the isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people and the adoption of the Direct Trade Regulation.

In the list, the Turkish Cypriot people is also asking the European Union to invite Turkish Cypriot people to send their own democratically elected representatives to the European Parliament, to allow direct flights, to open ERASMUS and Bologna process to Turkish Cypriot students and universities and to make Turkish an official language of the Union.

In a nutshell calling on the EU to recognise the de facto partition / annexation of Cyprus to Turkey. Fat chance.
It is one thing to show care and compassion and understanding all the difficulties that our Cypriot brothers are facing. Recognition spells the end of a united Cyprus and the countdown to the next conflict begins . And it will happen , too many elements slowly driving Cyprus to combustion. The EU must do all it can to bring the to sites together and influence a solution , but it can not allow free trade , direct flights etc since such acts would be contrary to its obligations to international and European directives.

So was allowing the "RoC" in without a solution and with border disputes. It is this type of thinking hat will certainly cement partition Miltiades. You guys are shit scared of Turkey and are more than willing to punish us for it. What is wrong with seeing a brighter future by the lifting of embargoes and then good will and common sense ensure future unification. You threaten violence as the only solution to partition but then offer love and respect only for submission. How about some unconditional love.

I do not offer violence , merely pointing out that 80% of the population of Cyprus will not in the future just sit back and accept a "solution " imposed by the force of guns. I offer my unconditional love to all my T/C brothers and sisters , just as I offered my love to my wife till death us do part .Unconditional it was offered .Unspoken norms applicable in every sense of the word.You can not seriously expect the overwhelming majority to give up on their ancestral homes and act in an encouraging fashion so that the , and take note here , "TRNC" , THIS IS THE ONE THAT WARRANTS INVERTED COMMAS ACCORDING TO INTERNATIONAL LEGALITIES.
So cut this crap out it makes you look f..ng stupid , Inverted commas are used when the description of a product or in this case a nation is in dispute. The UN , the EU consider Cyprus to be the only republic of Cyprus.

Please do not misinterpret my comments. My loyalty is with the people of Cyprus who aspire unification and peaceful coexistense, not with people who want to sell my country to a foreign power.
