The Legal Stuff: Getting married in Cyprus

Postby eracles » Fri May 11, 2007 4:47 pm

I'm getting married in Cyprus in September. Both me and my fiancee live in the UK. I am Greek Orthodox, she is Church of Scotland.
We are having a Greek Orthodox wedding in a church.

Do I have to have a wedding at the municipality or not for it to be legal? I get different answers off everybody

My theory after research is this: Before we get married, we submit a wedding application at the municipal offices....we bring passports, proof of single status and birth certificates. Because we are getting married in a church we also get a 'form b'. We don't need to have another weddin ceremony.

Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks,
Eracles

Eracles few months ago i was trying to help some friends with this kind of things...and I found a site that has all those information...unfortunately i didnt keep that (I am not thinking to get married soon) and now i dont have the time to go through again this procedure to find it again...i dont remember how I found it and where...but if you know where are you going to get married since you speak Greek...you can talk with them...in the phone and they give you all the details...via internet which is for free for land lines... ...but as far as I know you have to go through a procedure for sure. One of my friends is getting married on December ... if you have any questions about the procedure let me know and i will ask her
