I have home and family in Kyrenia where I shall return to live in the near future. My mum's side is from Paphos and father's side from Alektora. I was born in Nissou. I lived through 1963 and 1974 wars, but spent my college and Uni life in UK - naturally taking a special interest in the history of Cyprus troubles / division and the affects of international/local politics on their development. I hope to be more informative rather than argumentative in the fight for a united Cyprus.
to me that phrase sounds ambiguously like you don't expect that Cypriots can be civilised ... or can use inet.
My apologies for any wrong impression. But I have witnessed some really heated arguments that can often become too offensive, when Cypriots with different ethnic backgrounds start discussing politics in the media (albeit indirectly).
"It was a pleasant surprise to discover a forum where Cypriots participate in civilised discussions. "
are you in the right place ??
Definitely! You would understand what I am talking about if you witnessed the level of insults and offensive language used in some UK forums when it involves ethnic minorities living within the country. The arguments in this forum are like two toddlers trying to address each other angrily (and I mean that in a good way!)
