What are the obligations of GCs in terms of military service? I know it is mandatory for everyone but: (1) How long is it? (2) What are the obligations of those GCs living and working overseas? Thanks.

i asked in thsi forum if anyone had done militery service in cyprus, but no one answered, so i assume there is no militery service in cyprus, since we have ten thousand memebers in here and not a single person said yes they done militery service

just because noone answered you , it doesnt mean that we didnot do military service. almost all gc in here who are based in cyprus , did their military service.

the answer is so obvious that nobody bothered to answer.

Had a good look at the link above which clearly states that "there is compulsory military service for all male citizens of the Cyprus Republic including persons of Cypriot descent on the male side. Persons of Cypriot descent on the male side (that is all who have a Cypriot father) are liable for compulsory service even if they do not have Cypriot citizenship"
But i couldnt see anything about Cypriot males of a different ethnic background...
Does anyone have info on this?

lol thank you for telling me something i alreaddy know. not only is this true of greek speaking cypriots but its true of the turkish speaking cypriots....................so these two armies in cyprus who are they training to defend and who are they training to fight with since cyprus has never in its history declared war on any nation. and since we are one and the same people cypriots. im asking a question like this becouse i have a curious mind, and i like to understand my people. perhaps someone in will be good enough to enlighten me

IF [Father G-Cypriot] OR [Son born in Cyprus] THEN Do Army.
