I didn't say he wasn't. I said that Bush is a criminal also, and the international community sees Bush as such as well. Therefore in a war between the two evils, I believe we should have supported the lesser evil.

Bush is the legally elected President of the worlds most powerful nation. You of all people should know that taking action to defend your nation is not a criminal act. What the hell did you expect Bush to do after 9/11.

It is proven beyond any doubt that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Furthermore the terrorist acts of USA against the world have started long time before 9/11.

So much brainwashing against America , I'm surprised that they , the Americans , do not tell us to go to hell and recognise the occupied part. But there again they , the Americans , know that there are thousands upon thousands of Cypriots that support America and are fighting the Cyprus cause against such difficult backgrounds as the incessant anti American feelings spewed out in Cyprus.

I get your point, but ass kissing is not my style ;)

Try using your brain for the benefit of Cyprus . If supporting the powers that are keeping partition at bay is ass kissing then be it. If Serbia , Kosovo , Albania , India , Pakistan , Cuba , Quala Lumba , the entire M.EAST recognised the occupied part it will a shame , but if the USA ALONE RECOGNISES THE OCCUPIED PART IT WILL BE A TRAGEDY FOR CYPRUS. All other nations will follow , cant you not see the influence that America has on the Cyprob. May i suggest you brush up on your definition of what defines a terrorist . You are using Al Qaeda language best suited for the sworn enemies of the West , you surprise me Piratis because you must know beyond a shadow of a doubt that should America change its policy on Cyprus it would be a catastrophe not only for the G/Cs but also the T/Cs who would be absorbed by Turkey in no time , and the end of a united Cyprus will herald the beginning of a new conflict era .
May I also remind you that Greece was the ONLY NATO nation that sunk so low as to openly support the continuance of the genocide of the Bosnian , kosovo Muslims. It is a national disgrace and a hypocrisy beyond endurance. The Greek Orthodox Church was the spearhead of the popular support for the Serbian massacre of the Muslims. It was and still is a disgrace , more so that the Cypriots were adversely influenced to show their solidarity to to what Sotos referred to as "Our Serbian brothers". Well they ain't my fucking brothers ! The T/Cs are my brothers and Cyprus should have known that supporting the massacre of Muslims by Serbian fanatics would not go down well with the T/Cs. As far as diplomacy goes , Cyprus is a thousand miles away , it is the Cypriots in the diaspora who are engaged in pro Cyprus activities on a daily basis that are faced with negative comments from people citing our numerous miscalculations over the years starting with the early 60s and leading up to our self inflicted 1974 catastrophe , and yet we carry on with the same violi , the same bloody minded approach , are we masochists , do we enjoy inflicting damage after damage on our island because we are Cypriots and we do not kiss ass ! Vaita Re !

There are UN resolutions that have legally sealed the fate of the Turkish invasion of 1974 so NOBODY can recognize something declared illegal internationally unless the UN resolutions are revoked or modified and I’d like to see how much support the US would have in trying to do all that because on their own they cannot.

The bottom line is that any country that foolishly decides to challenge the age-old UN stance on the Cyprus problem should prepare to climb Mount Everest and risk falling down at ever increasing heights along the way. The US knows this very well and that explains why they reconfirm their stance on the Cyprus problem from time to time.

May i suggest you brush up on your definition of what defines a terrorist . You are using Al Qaeda language best suited for the sworn enemies of the West,

I’d say that you need to brush up on the meanings of “Right” and “Wrong” before you tackle the definition of “Terrorist”.

it is the Cypriots in the diaspora who are engaged in pro Cyprus activities on a daily basis that are faced with negative comments from people citing our numerous miscalculations over the years starting with the early 60s and leading up to our self inflicted 1974 catastrophe , and yet we carry on with the same violi , the same bloody minded approach , are we masochists , do we enjoy inflicting damage after damage on our island because we are Cypriots and we do not kiss ass ! You can tell all them “Cypriots” in the Diaspora who feel that it was a “self inflicted 1974 catastrophe” that they should go back and retake Cyprus Problem 101 and save themselves from the trouble of demonstrating over something they feel guilty about until they get their facts right.

Do you actually ever read and understand any of the evidence myself and others post on these forums or is it all too much for you? Should we start a special course for you again starting from 1878 or would like us to go right back to Adam and Eve???

What is the point that you so much want to make .1878 has absolutely nothing what so ever to do with 1974 .
1960 yes , but 1878 ?? Were you around to watch the Greek lunatics of 1967 or their puppets of 1974 in Cyprus.

What makes something right and another wrong . Let me tell you . It is right that we should align ourselves with nations that can exert influence and be instrumental in bringing about a solution . It is wrong that we have aligned ourselves with nations that matter as much as a fly on the wall when it comes to influencing the removal of foreign troops from our soil and the establishment of a united Cyprus.
America alone stands between partition for ever and the prospects of uniting our island. The UN will react as it has always done with ineffective resolutions. Don't give me that shit that the UN is the body that makes or breaks the de facto state.

With all due respect Miltiades, but, can you cut a little bit on this West versus East nonesensical confrontation rhetoric of yours, becasue you make it sound far worst and serious than what it is in reality? Do you not know that among the best US allies and friends, are the Pakistani, the Saudi Arabian and most of the Gulf state governments, all of which belong to the so call occident (east) world that you so much despise, and which are also among the most hardcore Islamic cultures? And Turkey? Where do you place Turkey? On the west or on the east of your ...Richter scale?

With all due respect too, but the RoC is also one of the best US allies. The recent report of the Foreign Office says that "despite the fact that the Papadopoulos government does not have many means at its disposal, it took a clear position on the matter of international terrorism and supported the antiterrorist efforts of the US. The Cyprus government continued to allow blanket overfights and gave landing rights to the US air force in support of its sorties in Afghanistan and Iraq".

P.S. Perhaps, this is the reason the name of Papadopoulos was taken off the black list of the Finance Ministry of the US for his shady deals with the Serbian usurpers of the money of the Serbian people.

The tragedy of Cyprus is the product of a SERIES of events that occurred in succession over a period of many decades. 1878 is a very good starting point as it is the first time Cyprus falls under non-muslim administration in four centuries and it leads up to WWI and subsequently the all-important 1923 events. Here's a table of relevant events that lead up to 1974 invasion...

1878 Agreement with Turkey that Britain controls Cyprus for annual fee.

1914 Britain annexes Cyprus because Turkey lost in WWI

1923 In Treaty of Lausanne Turkey recognizes British possession of Cyprus.

1931 Riots broke out in Cyprus against British administration.

1945 Greek Cypriot demands for enosis stirred tensions in Cyprus.

1950 Church polled the Greek community, 96% favored union with Greece.

1955 Greek Cypriots intensified their armed campaign against the British.

1956 The British government exiled Archbishop Makarios to the Seychelles.

1960. Cyprus independence proclaimed and admitted to the UN.

1963 (December) Greek and Turkish Cypriots clashed after Makarios proposed constitutional changes.

1964 Acceptance of a UN resolution calling for a cease-fire on August 10,

1968 Makarios re-elected president while Turkish Cypriots enacted their own laws.

1973 Makarios won re-election.

1974 Greek junta led coup replaces Makarios with Nicos Sampson.

1974 (July) Turkish invasion.

NB: I've put this together very quickly so if I've left anything important out do tell.
